My digital camera just recently broke. I was wanting to replace it eventually anyway as I was unhappy with the quality of pictures I was getting from it. If you have a digital camera that you use and are happy with please let me know the make and model. I am looking for at least 5 megapixels. Thanks in advance!

Rene,
I recently bought a camcorder at wolf camera on University Dr. in Fort worth. When I first went in I was looking at both camcorders and digital cameras. I will tell you what they told me at Wolf (I think it may be called Ritz now). The guy who was helping me was named Brit and he said that Sony is overpriced and if you ever need repairs you have to send it to them, because they require special tools that only Sony has. He said that in his opinion Sony is overpriced and though they do make other good products, he would stay away from their digital cameras. He told me that he thinks for the price you cannot beat Fugi. He said that the technology that you get with a Fugi is great for the price you pay. He also recommended a Casio. He said that he has gotten great reviews from them and not many retuns. Also if you buy a camera from them, they give you free lessons for two people and they do price match. My advice is to go to a camera store, not a best buy or circuit city. Hope you find the right camera for you!!!

Hi, we have a Canon Powershot A400. It takes great pictures, and has video capabilities, too. I take a lot of close-ups of flowers, and they have all turned out incredibly clear. I don't know how many megapixels it is, though. Hope this helps.

I concur! I have a Fuji-Finepix E550 and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! My husband did a TON of research (Consumer Reports.com & Cnet.com to name a few) before he bought it for me and that camera kept popping up. It's a 6.3 Megapixel and I believe the settings can be altered to be a 12 megapixel camera! It also has a video camera mode complete with sound. I consider myself an amatuer photographer and have taken some of the BEST pics with my camera. Email me if you'd like to see some of them. I love my camera and would recommend it to anyone. Great price, great value, great pics!! Oh, and which- ever camera you choose, always use Ni-MH batteries. Regular alkaline batteries can damage your camera. :)

Hi R.,

You can't go wrong with a FujiFilm 5MP digi-cam. They are VERY good at making up for user's lack of professional skills (if you are like me), and still give you EXCELLENT pics. That is for a point and shoot, pocket-type camera. I personally use a BIG, professional Olympus digital SLR, but for a smaller cam, do check out Fuji.

BTW, you are right on about the Megapixels, more than 5 is probably a waste of money for the average user. (less is not enough) You will be able to print great pics, up to at least 8x10 in size.

A GREAT website for reviewing digital cameras is...

You will be able to find all answers on that site.

Good luck!!

R.,
We have a great one! It's a casio 5.0MP 3.0 Optical Zoom, and it's model EX-Z50, which I don't think is made any longer. BUT I think they have a similar one at Walmart. The greatest feature of this camera is battery life. It is rechargeable/uploadable in a cradle, so you NEVER have to replace batteries, and it's never gone dead on me before. It was reasonable given its features, and its a small size.

Good luck!

Hello R.! I purchased a digital camera a couple months ago from Circuit City and I absolutely l-o-v-e it!. The pictures are extremely clear. But the best feature is that it doesnt take batteries. It has a re-chargeable chip that you just plug in for about 45 minutes every 300 pictures or so. I was spending ssooo much money on batteries so this is fantastic! There's also a movie mode and so many other modes there's not enough room to describe! Here's just a few examples: "Candlelight portrait", "soft flowing water", "children", "splashing water", "nightscene", "anti-shake", "monocrome" (black and white). You can even take pictures of pictures!

Casio Exilim EX-Z600 Digital Camera

•6-megapixel CCD
•3x optical zoom
•2.7" Super Bright LCD
•Anti-Shake DSP
•eBay Best Shot mode
•Includes docking cradle
•Movie mode

The Sony Cybershot P-200 has been great for us. It's 7.2 megapixles and does short video clips. I liked it enough that when I thought I lost it right before a family vacation in the Spring - I went out and bought the exact same camera again. Takes nice pics, I like the small portable size, and is easy to use. Funny enough, I recently found the 1st camera I thought I lost this past week in a diaper bag that we infrequently use. Anyway - if you think you may be interested in a used camera that still works great - let me know. We live in Keller and I work in FW.

We use the Fuji Finepix. It's great and is very small so I throw it in my purze and go - I use it so much more than my older, larger one. Also, it takes short little videos which is awesome, they are easy to get on and off and load onto youtube.com or somewhere to share with family and friends. Good luck in your shopping!
