In the Hospital

Hello A., I saw that this is your second posting today, therefore I realize that you also have a little baby. If you are able to be at the hospital for a while each day, that would be great. Otherwise, make sure that (if you are allowed) you call her daily. All you really can do is be there to support her. I will add you and your family (especially your mom) to my prayers.

Hi my name is R.. I am 73 years old. I had massave blood clots and after 14 hours the drs. started getting a bp and I was on my way back. It took God to do it. There was a lot of praying going up for me . Thank you for letting me talk to you. I pray for the best.

My mom was just in the hopsital for that same reason last weekend. How ironic! My mom was feeling no pain, so her stay in the hospital was 'too long', according to her. She was there for 5 days, so her blood levels could be monitored- no better place to be. She is on blood thinners and doing fine now. Your mom is in the best place and once she gets started on the meds., should be fine. I was able to visit my mom and give her support while my husband watched our kids. (Plus it was the weekend and niether of us were working.)

This is a really good time to let your community be a community. Ask women you know to watch your toddler so you can go to the hospital for a few hours. If you would be willing to watch someone's child in a similar situation, then call that mom. Set up times each day. You will be able to watch that mom's child/ren another time - and that will strengthen your relationships, too.

My sister had a blood clot in her lungs...actually several last summer. The in the hospital part was easy, it was when she got home that was hardest for her. She was very weak and very limited in what she was allowed to do at first....You mom is going to need someone to take her to doctor appts, help in shopping and food prep and other stuff like that. Maybe reach out to family and friends and set up times that people do the shopping, bring meals and take her to appts to help spread it out...

Good luck! It was scary but nearly a year later, my sister is mostly back to life as normal.

Hi Mandy,

My mom has now thrown 2 clots in her lung 3 years apart. The best way to deal is to stay positive. Hopefully it's not life threatening and she will recover just like my mom has. The difference I see is that she has difficulty exercising (the clot deadens your lung and makes it hard to breathe).
She will probably be put on the medicine Coumidin (a blood thinner). The only down side to this is there is possible weight gain that will happen. (Your body swells up)
Like I said, stay positive with her and all will be ok.
