In Serious Need of HELP for 3 Days

We started my son in a new in-home daycare 2 weeks ago. I have had a nagging feeling that something is just not right, so I signed him up to start a pre-school starting next Monday. He cried all the way home today and told me that she spanked him and that she screams at him a lot. The past 2 days when I have showed up to pick him up everyone (including the provider) has been asleep. This was at 4 on Monday and 3:15 today. WAY too late for a naptime of a child who goes to bed at 7:30! It took her 10 minutes to answer the door today when I showed up. She was sound asleep. My little guy could have woken up and caused some major problems while she was sleeping! I am not comfortable with this at all. I do not know what to do. I do not have any sick days left at school and we have no where for him to go for the next 3 days, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. If you can help me out or you know anyone who can please let me know! My little guy just needs some loving after a tough two weeks.

You could take your little guy to S.S. Noah in Allen. It's a drop off daycare that has been very good to us. They are open from 7am to 10pm.
Hope I could be of some help.

That is completely unacceptable and I would definitely let her know that. If she is licensed, I would also call that to the attention to the appropriate authorities. You are correct in assuming something, anything.. could happen to those children. Copy and paste this link into your web browser: http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Care/Search_Texas_Child... Namely, Sonomi Johnson. She posted a message of openings. I would not keep my child in that situation for another minute. As you can see, I'm a little too passionate about the care these babies receive.

Through the link, you can search by zip code for homecare or daycare providers. If nothing else, even a temporary place. I would strongly suggest choosing a registered provider rather than a licensed. I am unsure of the differences, but I am certain the registered providers are required to meet certain standards/requirements of the state.

Good luck! Hope you are able to remove your baby from that situation soon.

If you're only needing someone for 3 days I may be able to help you out. I live in McKinney, Texas so I don't know if the drive would be too much. Also I have two boys that attend preschool and school - your son would probably have to join me to pick them up after school (probably not much time to nap). Also I have a little 2 1/2 year old little girl who he could play with during the day.

The offer is there because I can see that you're in a bind.

You can contact me at ____@____.com or call me on my cell ###-###-#### (if I don't answer right away, I will call you back)

I cannot believe this story! I think you should definitely call the state on her. This is illegal activity and I cannot believe this woman does this! Please call the state and report her!
Also, I don't know what hours you need care for him but Happy Land in McKinney takes drop-ins. Good luck and I still can't believe how sad a story! :(

Call me and I will help you. I keep kids in my home (actually a teacher before this myself). That breaks my heart. Just give me a call.

Hi N.,
I may be able to help you but I live in Frisco and didn't know if that is too far. I have a 20 month old son and would be just devastated if those things had happened to him so I can imagine how you are feeling!
Give me a call if you are interested and we can talk details. I am CPR certified in infant/toddler/adult and worked as a preschool teacher before entering the corporate world to be able to pay my bills. I am now a SAHM to my miracle baby Jackson.

Best of luck, A.

Hi N.,
I had the same type of experience with an in-home daycare. My infant son was left in his car seat all day and wasn't changed and the urine soaked through the car seat pad. When I showed up that day he was crying hysterically and she was reading a book on the couch. I took him out that day. The problem with these facilities...and not all of course...is that there is no one watching over them and no cameras. There is a place in Frisco called Kiddin Around that is a daycare/sitter service. It is ~$6.50 per hour and every kid, including my own who has gone there loves it. Their web address is http://www.kiddinaroundplaycare.com/. This will get you through until you find something more permanent. I am really sorry to hear about your situation. I breaks my heart.

That is terrible - It's always best to trust your instinct...I am not any kind of certified day care or anything, but I have 12 mo. old b/g twins and the luxury of both of my parents here helping me out. I know it's last minute (I don't always get to check email in a timely manner), but I will be home all day Thurs. and Fri. if you are in a bind and need somewhere to take your son. From one mom to another, I know how hard it is to feel like you don't have any options. Anyway, if I can help, pls. let me know. I will make sure I check email first thing in the morning.

That's awful! And totally unacceptable! I just saw this so you've probably already found someone. If not, I can ask my after school sitter for Thur & Fri. It would take too long to tell you how picky I am and I trust her totally. She is so awesome & loving. We are in Blue Ridge which is not too far from Anna but don't know if that would be workable for you or not. If you would like for me to check with her, just email me directly at ____@____.com it gets better for you and your son. Thanks, M.
