Hello moms... i need some serious help...
i need daycare, badly... my baby's 8 months old, my mom was watching her, she found out she had cancer in june, had surgery in july, radiation in august through october, but she says she's just not feeling good enough to watch her and my sister decided last thursday she wasn't going to watch her anymore, long story short, i'm screwed. if i don't go to work, i lose my job. if i have no daycare, i lose my job. if i don't find a solution, i lose my mind shortly... i'm really stuck, i don't have enough time at work to research and call places, i don't know where to start, what to ask, i don't know much at this point, my heads going in 50 directions and my feet are stuck, does anyone have any ideas? i work just over the rhode island line near woonsocket, i don't want her to be in danger and to be honest, i am having a hard time trusting people to be reliable at this point... it's really starting to wear on me, i don't know where else to turn but here... any suggestions would be great, i don't know the average cost, what the minimum age is, anything, its all a big mystery to me right now, and any assistance would be super since i have to do something fast and don't want to make another hasty or wrong decision here... help moms... freakin' out!!!

What can I do next?

Hi A.

I wish you lived closer to me (I live in Bristol) because I run a home daycare out of my house and would love to take your 8 month old. Just a fyi - I charge $35.00/day so I believe any home daycare will be around that price. Try looking on www.craigslist.com or your local paper for a home daycare in your area. Good luck

A.,

My daycare is great! Their prices are fantastic and they provide formula and baby food for the babies and breakfast, lunch and two snacks when they are on regular food. They have five different centers around rhode island and MA you should check them out. it is Rumford Day Nursery! Good Luck!

A. - you should check out a home daycare. They tend to be less expensive and more flexible. Here's a list:
http://www.dcyf.ri.gov/day_care_provider.php
Also check this out - http://www.dhs.state.ri.us/dhs/famchild/dcspgm.htm

and lastly - these people were really helpful and send you a list in the mail with details about everyplace:

www.optionsforworkingparentsri.org

I would DEFINITELY suggest giving them a call. it's one call and they can send you information on all kinds of things.

Good luck!
