In Need of Skirts

Hi, Mamas! I am in search of skirts. I just need plain, everyday, very casual skirts. The kind you wear with a polo or a t-shirt or whatever and are very flowing. They need to be inexpensive, but not terribly unflattering. Sometimes it's hard to find casual skirts that are flattering, it seems. I am on a tight budget, so nothing too expensive, but I am not unwilling to pay the right amount for quality and fit. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I don't know if you can sew, but elastic band skirts are the easiest things to make. If not, try calling a local seamstress. I bet if you have her sew two or three, it would cost less than buying them and you could pick out the exact fabric that you like.

I got a real cute flowy skirt at KMart, of all places, last spring. I get compliments on it all the time.

I'm on a tight budget also, lately I've been shopping at Goodwill (and goodwill type) stores that are in better neighborhoods. I've found some really terrific finds for great prices, usually $3-$5. I also shop consignment stores as well, they are more than goodwill but still very reasonable for good quality clothing, ($10-$12). I'm in the Keller area and we have a great goodwill and some really good consignment shops, not sure what is in the Arlington area, but I'm sure if you ask around you will find something, otherwise I always shop TJ Maxx and Marshalls or Ross, ($15-$29), Burlington may have some good options but I don't have one of those near me.

Check your local thrift stores. You have to check periodically, as of course the stock changes a lot, but I've found most of my favorite skirts there. If you can find a thrift store in an upscale part of your town/city, they usually have better quality items.

I lucked into finding a nice thrift store in the shopping plaza where our pet food store is located, and so I check it out about once per month or once every other month. It's hard to beat a $2 to $5 skirt, and it's not hard to experiment with your look a little bit at that price! :)

I look forward to hearing other readers comments, because I'd love to find other sources for the same types of skirts. So thank you for posting the question! :)

www.koshercasual.com Kosher Casual has a nice selection of modernly modest skirt for girls, teens and women especially if you are looking for styles that cover the knee. Great prices too.
