I'm considering watching a newborn baby and am wondering what people pay for in-home childcare. This will be 5 days a week for about 9 hours each day. I would appreciate any input aas to what I would charge making it fair and worth it for me and my family.
I paid $90.00 a week for in home child care for my son. He was 10 months old when he started. She was the lowest priced when we interviewed like 3 other people.
His back up sitter charged $25 a day.

depending on your area, I do hame daycare/preschool to me infants are easier yes more time consuming but I perfer infants I charge $125.00 for all ages full time. Good luck
My MIL did in home child care and asked for $30 a day for one child. But she also did sliding scale and charged 20 a day for three other children which I thought was just wrong. For a newborn I'd think 400 a month to 600 a month is right depending on your ability provide quality care and qualifications.

I had my daughter in two different home daycares. They both served all meals, but one charged $125/week and the other charged $105/week. I ultimately went with the one that charged $105/week, not because it was cheaper, but because I liked the caregiver better. My daughter was there nine hours a day, five days a week. I do home daycare in the Surprise area and I would say for an infant full time you should be charging between $150-$175 per week. Once the child turns a year, then I lower my price to $135 per week. I'm not sure what the going rates are in your area. You might want to call around to some other home daycares in your area and see what they are charging. Good Luck!
I have a home daycare in North Phoenix and for under 2 years of age I charge $150 a week, but paying for only the days they are here so its $30 a day and $125 a week for over 2 or $25 a day.

So I didnt get back to you sooner.I just movied into my new house the last two months have been crazy. Anyway I charge for full time care which is three day or more regurdless if he or she is here.This is a guarantee for your childs place in the home day care.Infants to 1 yrs old is $135.00 a week.You are required to bring all diapers wipes bottles and extra change of cloths.I do pre-school curriculum and to prepare them for their future.Encourage a love for music books self confident and self respect,Help verbalize needs and ideas.encourage children to laugh have fun and dont be affriad to make mistake.And so much more. I have done both in-home daycare and was a preschool teacher and I think that a rate of $30.00 per day would be fair. However, that only equates to approx. $3.00 an hour if you are watching the infant for nine hours. Just something to think about. How much are you willing to make an hour? I know you can charge up to $40.00 per day, but I am not sure whether the parents are willing to pay that or not? Good luck and if you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
H., I charge more for kids with diapers and by the day. I charge 150 a week for the baby girl that I watch, less for older potty trained kids. It is really a personal preference as to what you want to charge but don't let them take advantage of you. Make sure that they have guidelines for after hours if they come late or ask you to watch more then the initial amount of time they had asked for. I made this mistake with the baby I watch and the parents deem it as they can pick her up when ever they feel like it. They will pick her up anywhere from 5 to 8!!! I require that their food is provided or they have to pay for it. Set it up as a trial time period for the first month to make sure that you are able to do this without going totally crazy or being too much.
