Hi moms, I have a bracelet which is very important to me, it has a magnetic closure. Recently I keep losing the bracelet without even realizing it, thankfully we have been able to find each time. I was wondering if anyone out there had a home remedy for making the magnet strong again. We've tried cleaning it with alcohol but didn't seem to work.
I don't know how to fix it, but I can recommend Fast Fix Jewelry. There's one in most malls. I've taken several items there, even had my engagement/wedding ring melted down and re-made from them. They do good work for a fair price.
My mom and I make and sell jewelry and you may be able to take it to some one who makes jewelry and they can replace the clasp with a new magnetic one or you may be able to pick a new clasp. I would recommend have the clasp replaced. I hope this helps.

Have you taken the bracelet to a jeweler to see if they can replace the magnetic piece? I don't know how costly that would be but that might be your best bet. I sell Premier Designs Jewelry and we have several pieces with magnetic closures but I'm not sure how to "fix" them. Premier always replaces the pieces if something were to happen with them.

Dr. Bart Presti on Virginia in McKinney is an excellent dentist. My whole family goes to him. I have a 12 year old and a 6 year old. I started taking my 6 year old son when he was 4 and he loves Dr. Presti. He's real gental. I have been going to him since I was 11. When he works on my 12 year old he never knows when he is being worked on. He's that good.
Take it to a jeweler to have the clasp checked, and have them add a piece of safety chain, this way if the clasp does come undone, the chain will help keep it around your wrist nd from losing it.
I could replace the closure for you with a safety chain attachment. That is the best way to protect it from falling off. As far as re-magnetizing it, I'm not sure how to do that.
check with your local mall watch repair shop, they can sometimes repair things really inexpensively, and it sounds the the magnets got de-magnatized, so they may need to be replaced. hope this helps, good luck!

You can find magnetic closures at Hobby Lobby, JoAnne's, Michaels, and possibly Walmart. They are very easy to replace and are very inexpensive. I have also seen the ones advertised on television at Walgreens. Good Luck!!!
Hi. I don't know if this will help or not. I just know when I place my work tools on a magnetic strip to hold them in place, they become magnetic themselves. If you can find a strong magnet(Hobby store?) that it will attract to, maybe it would become strong again. Or you might just call your local jeweler, they might have replacements.

QVC sells magnetic clasps to convert a regular clasp to a magnetic one. I'm sure you could buy one of those and replace the entire clasp. Look at QVC.com for item numbers J07999 or J57584. They have several others as well.

A stronger magnet will re-magnatize it. You will need to put the magnets from the braclet on the appropriate ends of the magnet (check a science or teacher store for one strong enough). If you remember from Highschool Science class, magnets have poles, one end will attract and the other repell. You will know when you have it right when the magnets on the bracelet stick to the purchased magnet. I would leave it for a quite a while, don't know if it will take weeks or days.
My magnetic pincushion is always magnatizing my straight pins and they will cling to my scissors! Drives me nuts, lol.
If it is that important to you, take it to a jewelry repair shop and have them change the clasp. Yes, it will cost a few dollars but is better than finding out that whatever you do to it at home has not worked when it is gone forever........
Magnets are made with electricity. I don't know how to do it, but maybe one of your male friends could think about that angle. My son, who is autistic and excells at electronics and mechanical things, used to make electromagnets. Just a thought, it could be useful...
