I'm Looking for a Great Park in Schaumburg for Kids of ALL Ages

I am planning an "end of summer" READING CELEBRATION at a park in Schaumburg (or the Schaumburg area). I'd love a park that is great for kids of ALL ages as I have kids from 18 months - 14 years old participating. If there is a shelter of some kind and a large grassy area, even better!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great ideas so far! My son has been enjoying all the park visits as we've been checking out new places! We've been over to the NEW Fountain Park in Elk Grove--this is a great place! Still planning to visit the one in Streamwood. We've also gone to several in Schaumburg including Bock and the CRC.

Here's what I'm really looking for is a great playground that even older kids up to 14 will enjoy. A grassy area and/or shelter area where I can plan a few reading activities, and a place with restrooms is an extra bonus!

I'm holding a reading club throughout the summer and looking to get together probably 3 times at various parks. Our last get together will be a big celebration in Aug. for all of the kids that met the reading challenge and they will get their awards. I have kids from 18 months-14 signed up so far and am still signing up others.

If anyone else has other suggestions, I'm still looking....
Thanks!!
K.

How about Spring Valley?! It has a farm at the park where the kids can pet some animals and even help feed some of them. My son who was about 18 months the first time he went there enjoyed it. Even helped feed one of the cows.

Did you just go to the Schaumburg Park District website? It lists the types of recreation at each of the parks. Here's a link to Spring Valley on their site.

Fountain Square Park in Elk Grove Village, across from Mead Jr. High is awesome. They have a small pavillion and two or three play structures. They have a really cool splash pad/ water play structure and a fountain to play in. There's also grassy areas. I like it because there is lots of stuff to choose from and my daughter LOVES the water play. Here's a link to the park that has pictures. http://www.elkgroveparks.org/parks_facilities_details.asp...
There is also a park on Roselle Road a couple of blocks off of the Elgin O'Hare. It's called Turner Park. It's technically in Roselle but it's a great park. There are play structures for both little and big kids, a splash pad, a pavillion, and a large field. There's a little pond down the hill from the park so it's really pretty. We love the splash pad.
good luck!

Why don't you call the park district or look at parkfun.com online. They should be able to tell you which location is best for this, perhaps the park area where they hold Summerfest, or Bock which is off Sharon and Braintree. The park number is ###-###-####. You may even get their support and "advertising" for this program. I teach rubber stamp class their once a month for teens and adults, they are really good to deal with.

There's Sunny Hill Park in Streamwood. It's on Irving park between 59 and Schaumburg Rd. They have a really cool playground for the little ones to about 8 or 10 they have a skate park, a splash pad, and a basketball court. There is a shelter near the playground and a gazebo up on a grassy hill. There is even a frisbee golf course. You might want to call Streamwood and see about renting out the pavillion. It's a fairly new park and very nice!

Good luck,
H.
