So I have really let myself become a fashion mess! I used to work in retail but even then I wasn't all the way with it and now that I have been a SAHM for 2 years I really have become a mess. I usually wear jeans...no prob here...but I bought some awesome boots but have no idea what kind of legging to put with it...never even worn them before...dont even own a pair actually. I also just usually wear t shirts that are becoming way to big for. Sometimes I wear sweats all day and worse I will wear my husbands sweats cause they are so comfortable! LOL! I know I need to get it together! I really really want to look fashionable and start taking better care of my looks. Tired of looking old and frumpy! And advice I don't even know where to begin?! Im not 21 anymore...Im a few years away from 30 and a mother....I dont want to look like a teen but dont want to look like grandma either!

What can I do next?

Some great advice I received was to get up and get dressed all the way to the shoes in the morning. I love jeans and you can do so much with them. I love the scarf idea and sometimes I wear a scarf for a belt with jeans. I find them at thrift stores. Find some comfy, girl shirts too. I like to wear baggy t-shirts to but found some that are more feminine (made for girls) and have some nice designs on them. I also love to wear casual skirts and my husband loves it. They are really comfy and I look like a girl. Another thing I started doing, no matter what I'm wearing, is before hubby comes home I put on some lipstick/gloss and a little powder with eyeshadow and mascara. It makes a difference. Start watching "What Not to Wear" on TLC. They always have good ideas. I don't agree with everything they say, but for the most part, they get it right.

Easy way to step it up a notch is to replace those sweatshirts with sweaters. Get simple cotton ones you can easily wash. Also, buy some pretty necklaces. These don't have to be expensive ... Target and Kohls sell cute ones. I find any time I wear a necklace, I just look more pulled together.

I have a personal shopper at White House Black Market and when something comes in that she knows is "me" I go check it out.

I hate shopping and she really helps me.

A lot of stores have personal shoppers. You don't have to buy everything and sometimes it is fun to step outside the box of your normal attire!

My daughter (almost 17) just bought the cutest boots at Victoria's secret. We wear the same shoe size so she has 2 pair and we switch off using them.

Add some color, flair and do something with your hair. No frump here, never have and never will, LOL

one of my new favorite trends is jeggings! Yes i know- yuck right? But they are really comfortable (surprisingly) and look fantastic. you can buy a bigger size if you don't want them skin tight! You can get them at target!

Wear those with flats/ballet slipper type shoes and an easy sweater. You can dress it up and dress it down. If you want to be super crazy- wear a long sleeve t shirt with a scarf! The trick to that is buy the ones that are already tied in a knot and DONT untie it!

flat boots are also good, but I am struggling getting into that trend!

I bought a bunch of pretty scarves to wear with my t shirts and jeans. Almost every time I wear one, I get compliments on how nice I look. It's funny because I'm wearing the same old t shirt under the scarf but no one notices. There are a couple youtube videos that show fun ways to wrap and tie your scarf. Mine are mostly from Target, they have a good selection for 10-15$.

Just look through your favorite catalogs and get ideas. You dont necessarily have to wear big trends or what is "in". I tend to stay away from things that everyone is wearing. Get to know your body type and what looks good on you and go from there. Make the hubs watch the kids so you can get out and try things on.
Im a sahm too. I LOVE fashion, but I would have to say 80% of the time I am in sweats. Whats the point in getting dressed up to clean the house if you arent going anywhere?
You do, need to have some things for nights you go out or special occasions. Its horrible to have something special to do and your pulling your closet apart to put something together.
Go shopping girl!!

I can understand your problem. You can consult to someone or just have a look to catalogs and choose the one which suits you best.
