If You've Had a Tummy Tuck...

... the usual timeframe to resume normal activities is 4-6 weeks...

Does this include swimming? I ask because I'm debating whether to have my tuck NOW, or wait until after summer.

No way am I not swimming all summer!

So can you swim after that 4-6 weeks or was it longer than that?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

LOL MOM2KCK! I've got extra skin from 3 babies, it's not pretty, and I HAVE to get my abs fixed, they're so bad my doc can't believe I can stand upright!

@Kristin, I've been waiting YEARS to be able to afford this :) I'm talking about splashing around in the river, for the most part, but the river has more cooties than anything else! I did send my doc an email, just have yet to hear back...

Well, I don't know the answer to your specific question, but UGH! SOOO JEALOUS!

I would think that the main concern with swimming is the bacterial issue with public pools and how your incision is healing. Also, the scar itself being exposed to sunlight, etc. Do you mean vigorous laps or just splashing in the pool with your kids, because from an exercise perspective, they're two totally different things, right? If you've chosen a doc, this would be a great question to ask...and let us know the answer because (hopefully) I'll have the same question in a year or two.

I was back to litght workouts on the treadmill at 4 weeks.
For swimming, a lot of it will depend on how tight your abs and skin are afterwards. For me, being horizontal (plank positions) is still occasionally uncomfortable. I was back to hard core workouts by 6 weeks, but I've had to skip planks and push ups because the pulling on my abs and skin just doesn't feel right. It's still really tight in there (the belly button will be your most sensitive area), and I'm 4 months post op.

I know you'd be more "supported" in the water, but hard to say how that would feel. But, by 8 weeks...no problem. So if you had it done now, you'd be totally fine by summer months!
Enjoy it! It was the BEST DECISION I ever made!

Good luck!!! I'm sure you will look fabulous! A few of my friends have had it done, and they look great!

My only advice to you is to have it done before or during the summer. You will heal more quickly in warmer weather.

You need a tummy tuck? Are you sure??

My sister and I were just talking about this on Saturday. A mom I know at the dance studio had one. Problem is, she is still large everywhere else. So she looks odd. My aunt also had one and breast implants, and she looks like a triangle now...we are big boned people, even when I finally get skinny, I'll never look like you :).
