P.M.
My little sister (who was 21 y/o), her husband and my much older favorite Aunt.
My parents are a bit flaky too - well so is my sister LOL but thankfully she was safe with someone so we could sleep the Wedding Night away.
First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby... NOPE. We've got 3 kiddos. BACKWARDS!
Anyway, my mother committed to watching our children on our wedding night months ago. However, she JUST NOW called me to say she wouldn't be able to do it! WHAT?! I'm sure everything will work itself out, but it got me wondering... who watched YOUR kids on your wedding night??

my son was only 6 weeks old when i got married. yep we got engaged and then almost imediatly got pregnant lol. i was a first time mom and very nervous about leaving my newborn alone with anyone so my mom was the only one I trusted to watch him. though I will admit half the night I kept telling my hubby that we should go get him. "lets go get the baby he needs his mommy I can sense it." but I made it through the night and we had a good time (since I had just gotten the all clear from my doctor it was the first time we had had sex since my son was born.)
My best friend and her hubby (they live out of town and always stay at our house when they come in, even on our wedding night! lol). They took our little one home with them and stayed at our house with him while we stayed in a hotel to celebrate and we arrived home early the next morning.
Good luck!
They stayed with us. We had a morning ceremony and a small reception at our house after. Our guests left, we had dinner, played with the kids and went to bed - as usual!
We had a honeymoon eight years later!!
DH's sister and her husband watched the kids (my stepkids) and handled the transfer to their mom after our wedding.
My Sister and her hubby took my step daughter the night of our wedding and then met us for brunch the next morning before we headed out for our honeymoon.
I'm a big fan of backwards! Congratulations!
My mom watched the kids the night before our wedding while I had a small celebration at a girlfriend's house where we cooked and prepared food for the next day. My husband went with my Dad, his dad and a few other men to have a bachelor party after setting up for the next day (chairs, furniture, pick ups, drop offs, etc). My step mom got the kids dressed and ready for the wedding the next morning. Our ceremony was over by 2:30pm and our close friends (who have children who are about the same age as ours) watched them the night of the wedding. We had a fabulous one night honeymoon - poker tournament and jacuzzi! and picked our babes up the next morning after a brunch with my folks.
So it was a team effort. All and all...quite a perfect start - for us!
Well....we didn't have a child, but we did have a dog...that my mom & step dad watched......
We have 2 kiddos and will be getting married soon! My parents will be watching them, but we have Johns parents as backup... Ask a close friend if there arent any other close family members :)
My mum for the night (he spent the night at her house, we picked him up the next afternoon... she also watched him for our honeymooon pts 1 & 2; 4 day camping trip and 10 day Oahu/Hawaii/Maui trip a year later).. and a combo of my mum and a good friend for the actual wedding.
- Prewedding at her house (while I was getting ready; makeup/ hair/ etc.) - mum
- At site prewedding : our good friend, including getting him in his tux/ etc. while my mum was helping me
- Ceremony - mum
- Reception - mum + friend + us (I have the BEST pictures of slowdancing with my husband with our son in our arms)
- Afterwards/ that night - my mum
((He was 2 so he took quite a bit of watching. Having our friend take turns with my mum gave both of them time to relax/ enjoy themselves)).
I am backwards too. I have 1 son, he is 3. we are getting married this july and I will have my son with us. Im sure he will be happy to go with grandparents but I feel that my son is part of our day. Is it possible that your mans parents could watch them or a sibling? i hope this all works out for you!! Good Luck!
We got married the Saturday at the beginning of Spring Break so my stepson could go stay with my sister-in-law during our honeymoon.
I was lucky my wonderful SIL and my brother kept my kids for a week!
We had a destination wedding over a 4 day weekend so we were lucky and my kids stayed in the hotel with my mom and my hubbys daughter is special needs and she stayed in the hotel with her care provider...for all 3 nights. Start asking around and see if anyone will keep them for you...maybe in lieu of buying a wedding gift??? :o)
We have kids on both of our sides. i have a daughter and he has two sons. all three children will be part of the ceremony. after the ceremony our parents and friends and us will help watch the kids at the reception. that night the kids will go to their other parents. we might have to have help from our family getting them there, but that's no big thing, cause they help do stuff like that all the time. we don't have a date set yet, so this is just what i'm assuming will happen.
My mom watched our son on our wedding night who was 8 months old at the time. We had a very small wedding, my mom held my son during the wedding and her and my dad took him home with them right after. We never did have a reception and that was always a question I had in my mind, who's going to watch our son during our reception? I didn't want to exclude my mom from my reception so she could watch my son! I don't trust anyone to watch my kids except for our parents so she would be my only option.
They weren't present-however, perhaps a couple of teenagers could help you-one for the two girls-one for the baby alone.
