There must be more to this story. It doesn't make sense. Was Animal Control unable to determine which dog it was? Were they uncooperative in some way? Was there enough room for the dogs and were they being treated well? What kind of dogs were they?
I don't know of any "site" that can help her. She might need to contact a lawyer. They can't just put the dogs to sleep without cause.

C.,
No offense, but your story continues to unfold and I think you need to chill.
Now the truth comes out and it's a matter of a dog killing another dog and frankly, to me, that signals an unresponsible owner. That is likely why ALL the dogs were taken.
Under such circumstances, why would you spend your energy trying to get dogs back for a "friend"?
The lil kids are so sad.
Really?
Are they sad for the dog that got killed or what?
They should be glad the dog didn't attack them.
This is not your fight, this is not your battle and if it was your pet that was killed or your kid that was harmed, you might be seeing things from a different perspective.
I'm sorry, but now I'm mad.
You are asking for compassion when this is clearly a situation, in my opinion, where the compassion should be placed elsewhere.

At this point, it's up to people who have experience with animals to decide whether or not they can safely be socialized and adopted out. If they can't be, their fate is sealed. For the safety of everyone else.

I disagree with Shane, the dog pound and such around here is not good. They do what they want and if they feel they can take a dog, they will. They actually killed one of my dogs and it was in its yard tied up and doing nothing wrong, but because a woman next door could not keep track of her kids, he came into our yard and our dog bit him.......our dog was in his yard, chained up and the kid went to him.......they beat our dog so bad while he was tied up, he died......I tried to sue and was told I didn't really have much I could do,even though I was correct, that the kid trespassed and the mother was responsible. So, things happen to people that take care of their dogs and love them like family.
I don't know what the case is here, but just because they took all the dogs doesn't mean that they had the right too.......or that the other dog may not have been attacked first. I would say get legal counsel if at all possible and put a stop to the killings of good animals that are being judged by stupid people that don't care about animals at all.
I was on a court case where a lady was abusing animals, so I know that the "centers" aren't always right.

I'm sorry, this is almost incoherent, and I'm confused. You posted first that your dogs were taken, now you're saying they are your friend's dogs? And one of the dogs killed another? And what's with all the "s" after dog?

I'm guessing that they assume you/she have taught the dogs to fight and think it's safer to take them all away from you/her so they aren't abused like that any more - whether or not it's true. Can't you/she go to the pound and ask what's gong on? There probably isn't much chance you/she can save a dog that killed another. But you/she might be able to get the others back before they are adopted out.

Unfortunately, it depends a lot on your friend's situation. For example, if they came to take the one dog and found that all four dogs were living in poor living conditions, if this was not your friend's first aggressive-animal or abusive-animal offense, or if the other dogs displayed aggressive tendencies then the police may have had the right to seize all of the animals on the property. They have to have a warrant to do this, and there must be a court case or a hearing to decide ownership of the dogs.

IF the hearing has already taken place and the judge ruled that the dogs are now the property of the city, your friend cannot get her dogs back. She can try to appeal, but it is very unlikely. If there has been no hearing, the city does not have the right to euthanize her dogs, and she needs to go to court (it may help to get legal counsel) to make sure those dogs are protected until the hearing. Good luck.

not sure of laws there but my mothers corgi was killed on their property by a neighbors dog and the dog warden told them there was nothing they could do about it.
Seems there is more to the story then you are telling. What types of dogs are these? The dog warden and humane society usually does not instantly put a dog to sleep, they always try to adopt out dogs before they euthenize. ***added- even pitbulls and dogs who have had aggression issues are usually tried to be rehabilitaed or sent to a rescue organization- not just instantly pull down.***

if they were all pit bulls, which is generally the case in situations like this, she probably doesnt have much she can do.
