Guess What!!! You've been given a TIME MACHINE for your birthday gift. WOOOOOO!!!!

Now, what time period (and where) do you wish to visit first (and why)? Would you want to bring your kids along on any of your travels?

Just for kicks, we'll say you can speak the language and dialect of the time and place you are traveling to.

(((silly question, I know...but it's monday for pete's sake!)))

What can I do next?

Fun question! I would love to visit the 40s' or 50's. I loved the clothing and the more traditional lifestyles. That would be an interesting period to live in. As for bringing anyone, no--I would want to experience this by myself.

I would go back to when I was 10 and bring my 9 year-old daughter with me. She loves to hear my stories of growing up on a farm with three siblings and lots of animals.

I would go back to December of 1997 and make sure my parents weren't on the highway the same night and time as that drunk driver was. And then my mom would be alive to know my daughter now.

I would go back to when my kids were little.
I was born to be a mom and told all my life that I never could be.
I proved them wrong once, which was a miracle.
About 10 years later I got my son.
My marriage was imploding, but I never felt so alive and vibrant and happy.
That was my happiest time, barring all my accomplishments at work at such a young age.
I would go back to the days when my kids were little and we danced around and pretended it was summer even though it was really winter.
When they were little, our imaginations made us happy and could take us anywhere.
I've thought about this a lot as my oldest will be 25 on October 30 and my son turned 16 at the end of June.
Crappy husband aside, that was the happiest time of my life.

There was one day that I wished I could go back to....

I had just started dating this guy and he was acting like he really liked this other girl so I would make a commitment to him. Really hurt my feelings at the time. Of course I was young and stupid, and made the commitment.

If I could go back in time, I would kick that dude in the nuts and save myself almost two years worth of pain.

There are only two places I'd want to go.

1.) Back to when I was 17, nubile and freshly in love with my husband. Oh we burned bright back then and I really miss that brand new love feeling.

2.) Deep into the future. I wish I could live forever because I desperately want to know what the future holds. Do we ever get flying cars? Do we become a semi-utopian society a la Star Trek universe? Do we blow ourselves up? I want to see what happens next. I am sad that I only get one lifetime to watch because this show is pretty good.

I would very definitely go back to Summer in the Sixties. I would hang out at the beach and have a blonde headed, stompy wompy real gone surfer boy as my boyfriend. I would be 20 years old and wouldn't have any children. I might run into my parents there too.

I would go back to VIctorian Enland because I love VIctorian mysteries. And NO KIDS. I can't even go to the bathroom myself these days so they are not allowed in my fantasy time travel! :)

I'd go back 14 years ago and truly appreciate the marriage I had and never would have gotten divorced. I wouldn't have let my crazy family destroy me. Absolutely bring our daughter and live the life we should have.

Ah, man. I have so many places I would like to go. First, I would take my family to meet my grandfather, and great grandfather. They were such treasures to me.

Second , I think I would take my family to meet Abraham Lincoln, as well as other historical figures of our history- George Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, etc.

I would want to tell my dear friend Tim to go to the doctors and take a cholesterol test, and check his heart . Maybe if he did he would still be alive today.I would also tell my brother's friend to just not go out for a run on such and such date. I guess I would want to warn all of the people I care about so their life could be a little longer.

I would want an hour with Anne Frank. If I could save her family I would do that.

I wouldn't change anything in my life...but I'd stop by to hug my grandma and meet my father before he died.

As far as visiting certain times, I'd love to go back to Ancient Greece and listen to philosophers lecture... Socrates, Aristotle, Plato, Hypatia....fantastic.

Oh man...this is so hard.
For sentimental reasons I would take my daughter back in time to when my dad was alive. He was so excited to be a grandpa but passed right before she was born. To see him with her, holding her, laughing with her would be a feeling I couldn't describe, and would mean so much to me.
For reasons of my hobbies (vintage items) I would go back to the 50's/mid 60's. I would take my SO. To see the things we have actually in use and everywhere would probably just be tons of fun. I would also try to smuggle things back to the future if I could, lol.
Other times that appeal to me would be the wild west, and mid - late 1800's England...I probably wouldn't take anyone with me for those.
Fun question. =)
Where would you go?

Thanks to someone that put me onto Diana Gabeldon's books, I'd love to visit the 18th century in Scotland. BUT, ONLY a visit! It was a crazy time. I am convinced after reading several of her books that my father was somehow thrust forward from that time. I just can not believe how many weird sayings and beliefs he had that I now recognize as being 100% Scottish blood.

Well, if you mean go back in time to CHANGE something I did in my lifetime, I would not.

But if you mean, go back to a time when I wasn't ALIVE, just to be there just to experience it, sure. For example, it always annoyed me that I was not a teenager when the Beatles took over the world. My SIBLINGS were, psh. And I'd wish I could've been at Woodstock, too. And damn STRAIGHT I'd bring my babies through the mud on my back! Thinking about it, there are a zillion events in history about which I've wished I could've been there.

As usual, you'll keep me thinkin' all day, Ephie!

:)

I would travel back to my 1st day of jr high and tell myself a few things I wishI'd known back then. Like get involved, make it count, make some memories. Then, I would go to my 1st day of college and tell myself, take it more seriously. Yes an A and a C will both get you 3 hrs credit, but you aren't getting as much as you should out of the class if you just skate through. Once I've done this "course correction" I would want to visit The Constitutional Convention and the birth of our nation.

Well, I know how my boyfriend would want me to answer this question (Only because he always wishes that he had a time machine so that he could do this). He would want to get his hands on some of the best military weapons, and then go back to a time when a weapon was a heavy stick. Then he would rule the world. Lol, gotta love him.

I, on the other hand, would go back in time and play with the Indians! Then I would go forward a bit and play with the cowboys! :)

I would travel back to the time of the dinosaurs and bring my youngest girl with me. She is in love with all things dinosaur (gotta admit I have a bit of a fascination with them as well). My husband would love to go back to the 'Wild West'...I think mostly so he could not have to shave and could wield a weapon anytime he wanted. LOL.
