M.B.
My daughter gave me a handful of animal crackers to hold, I stuck them in my pocket and when she asked for one, I pulled one out and gave it to her. She said "Mommmm, this is a milkbone". Wrong pocket! I was training my dog too. :)
WOW I definately just had a moment... I was changing my 15 month old sons diaper, took the dirty one off, wiped him up, and put his clothes back on... wasn't until he peed through his clothes all over the couch that I realized... I NEVER PUT A CLEAN DIAPER ON HIM.
[facepalm]
I picked the wrooong month to switch to half caff coffee ;)
Ever have an idiot mommy moment??
LOL PATTY! I did that once too, my son was all leaned over in his seat grinning and my daughters were laughing hysterically... had to pull over and fix it. Oops ;)

I laid my brand new son on my daughters bed while I changed his crib bedding and it wasn't until I heard his muffled cry that I realized I had thrown his used bedding over him. Yikes. I obviously was sleep deprived.
Once I found the milk in the pantry and the cereal in the refrigerator.
Okay, that was nothing. Once I forgot to click the car seat into a seat belt. We turned a corner and the baby flipped upside down in the car. I started screaming in panic, jumped out of the car and ran back to find a baby dangling upside down still strapped inside his car seat.......... he was fine. Thank God we hadn't gone far and were on a quiet street.
haha! Yup, I have those all the time. Our son had just started crawling, and we weren't good with remembering to close the gate at the top of the stairs. One night I was cleaning up from dinner and started freaking out "Where is John, where is he" as I noticed the gate was open. Everyone kind of stopped and gave me this real strange look. Yup, I was holding him. Needless to say, my mother promptly came over, took the baby and told me to go get some rest :-)
Once I was feeding my son in the middle of the night and forgot to put the nipple on the bottle. That woke both of us up and everyone else in the house.
My favorite is when I begin giving the paci to my 3.5 year old. He's like, "Mommy, I'm not a baby!" oops...lol!
I was getting my son ready for his bath, got him completely undressed. When he got in the tub, I realized I forgot to take his socks off!!
I used to drop my daughter at pre school and then drive to work. One morning I got almost all the way to work and before my daughter piped up from the back seat to ask why I didn't take her to school. I had totally spaced that she was still with me. We still laugh about it, and that was more than 10 years ago.
I have:
1. redressed the kids without a diaper just like you did.
2. put on TWO diapers, one over the other--happened a lot during middle of the night feedings.
3. inadverdantly left wrapped-up dirty or wet diapers sitting on the changing table during the kids whole naptime. I gotta wonder, how could they sleep with that SMELL?!
And my mom tells a story of when my older brother was a newborn, and she and my dad decided they wanted to go out to eat. So they get dressed up, go out to the garage, get in the car, start the car, and begin pulling out of the driveway before it occured to them..."oh, yeah, we have left the baby IN THE HOUSE!"
Funny post!
ha mines more of I felt like a butt moment.......my 4 year old is in pre-k i go in and shes washing her hands, so i sneak up behind her and go rawrrrrrrrrr (super loud) and tickled her, she jumped and busted her elbow and got a little cut.......yea I felt like an idiot and mean.....it wouldv'e been funny if she didn't get hurt....I had to walk by the teachers asking if she was ok...I felt like an abusive parent...ugh!!!!! oh well....apparently like mother like daughter, b/c 2 days later were at my brothers and she does the same thing to her cousin, her cousin is the same age, her cousin gets startled and cries, and then she felt bad too........haha atleast we try to be fun spirited=)
I just had one of those moments the other day. My oldest has been in preschool since September of last year. It seems like when I make appointments, I always manage to make them for the time when she's suppose to be at school. It wouldn't be a big deal, but she only goes for 2.5 hours, and most of my appointments take longer than that. I can't tell you how many times I've had to call and change appointments at the last minute because I just forget!
Had an idiot working mom moment earlier this week.
Before I pump my breastmilk at work I first "weigh" them to see if they're full and ready to be pumped. A silly habit I got into, but I have my own office so I've never been ashamed. However, the other day I walked out of my office and absentmindedly weighed them as a co-worker was coming around the corner. He gave me the craziest look!!! I think he thought I was cupping a feel!! Oops... :P
I am constantly going into a room and then forgetting what I needed in there, and during a couple busy afternoons I have forgotten to change my son. he will have leaked through his diaper and I will be thinkin "how could that happen I just changed you." I will look at the clock and 3.5hrs will have passed. my hubby has more of these moments then I do because he is not a great multitasker. yesterday my uncle was over and he was helping my hubby hang a small wall cabinet in our bathroom. well my 20 mnth old was sitting in the hall watching them and they had the cabinet leaning against the wall (it is not a heavy cabinet) well my son started playing with it and it tipped over on him (its pry about 12 pds) he didnt get hurt but he couldnt figure out how to get it off him, so he starts wimpering and they are like 2 ft away from him and neither one of them notice! seriously how can you not notice that!
I have poured OJ on my dd's cereal!! Mornings are such a rush. My Grandmother has the best story of mommy brain though. She was out shopping with my Dad who was only a couple of weeks old and my aunt who was 4. They did there shopping and walked all the way home - WITHOUT MY DAD!!!! She totally panicked and ran all the way back to get him, and found him in the store, sound asleep with all the cashiers cooing over him. She was in tears but they sat her down and gave her a drink of water and she was fine. She didn't find that funny for a LONG time. :-)
My daughter had a 4 year check up last week and I totally spaced and missed it and didn't realize it until the next day. I had to re-schedule.
