what about bowling? They can do bumper lanes where they put up rails so the balls don't go in the gutter?

You can also do a movie party.... there are some need movies out right now and most theatres have a party room.

My son is turning 3 next week and we are having his b-day here. We are having my friend who does "Music Together" classes to do a class for the kids. It should be about 45 minutes and then it will be cake time and maybe presents.

You are so lucky that you have a child at a beautiful time of year. You can also have it at a local farm or a local children's "Gym" if you want an inside party.

My daughter and her friends loved her camping party this year. We sent tent evites, had a critter hunt for plastic bugs in a tent, went fishing for goldfish crackers, played pin-the-tail-on-the-skunk, and made a s'mores craft. I served crockpot cocktail franks, chips, and campfire cupcakes (pretzel sticks and red fruit roll-ups).

I'm assuming you don't have room for that many at your house or in your yard? This will be the first year we're getting to have an "off-site" party for our oldest! Yippee! He'll be 5 and his other parties have been at home. Does he like face painting? That's often fun for both genders. You can easily hire painters to come to any location. The ones I like most are the "critter" people who specialize in bringing a number of animals to the party and letting the children pet them after they explain what they are and some facts about them. The last one we went to was great! There was a python, a hedgehog, rabbits, an iguana, an ocelot and some other stuff.

what about a paint your own pottery place. Most of them have specials for kids parties and every kid gets to leave with something they made. Or if you have any small zoos or barns in your area that kids can go and meet the animals. Or even a children's gym, out here we have gymboree and My Gym. Both host kids parties, and I think Build-a-Bear stores do parties too.

How about My GYM or Gymboree? It is not particularly creative but it is fun for the kiddies.

We did it the old-fashioned way, which I am a fan of too! No need to have a structured party with activities and whole bit. We decorated the home in a backyardigans' theme, invited some friends and family, cooked trays and trays of food (my mom and aunties helped) and afterward let the kids out to play the rest of the day away however they liked while the adults chatted and ate. That was fun too.

Oh, what fun! LOL!

Here are some ideas:

1. Visit the "Build a Bear" store and have a "Build a Bear" party.
2. Have an outdoor kiddie obstacle course.
3. Go to a kiddie puppet show or some sort of kid-friendly performance which keeps the little ones entertained, then have pizza or nuggets, fries and carrot and celery sticks afterwards (or whatever your son likes to eat).
4. Go to a kiddie waterpark for swimming or splashing around in the water and then have your party food afterwards.
5. Go to a local children's museum.

Ok, I'll stop now because I'm getting carried away! You all have fun whatever you decide!

I do in-home make your own stuffed animal parties (similar to the Build-a-Bear concept, but with a few twists).
I literally take over your party for about 45 minutes to an hour (keeping the kids entertained and engaged), and then the stuffed animal also acts as the take home gift.
It's a great party for 3 year olds- both boys and girls, as they actually stuff the animals with their own hands (we own the patent on the closure which is a locking snap system).
