Well as many know the ECONOMY SUXS!!! Ive been ok and thank god keeping above water. But this year parties arent in the budget plus daddy will be in Colorado working on her Birthday. So I was in need of some good or great ideas to celebrate her birthday on a budget. It will only be my Birthday Girl, my oldest Daughter, and Grandpa celebrating. I want to make her day very special. We are definitly going to have cake, and go out some place fun for her birthday. But I want something creative that will just be a jaw dropper to a 3 year old. She loves her baby dolls, and she loves girly things. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

Special times need not be pricey. Perhaps you could take her out for a doughnut or make waffles together. My favorite cake was one with a doll sticking out of it, the cake being the lower half of the dress. Even if you are not inclined, you could make it using a bowl to bake the cake, frost it, then let her add sprinkles and ribbons(fruit by the foot). Focus on showing her she's special and she will have a great day.

Dear J.; My neighbor is doing the sneaky thing by getting her birthday girl out of the house and decorating the surprise party while she is gone. They are making a "Birthday Crown" for her and I can only guess what great things they will put on it. But this birthday girl will be an early teen and they think it will be great fun for her, so something like that should be a blast for a 3 year-old.
Have fun! D.

Two very successful parties I've had for preschoolers were the carosel at the mall and the water play area at Desert Ridge. The water play area is free and the kids can splash and play to their hearts content. For the carosel party I budgeted for each guest to ride twice and we bought Mcdonalds happy meals for the kids.

Is Grandpa a good sport?
Then I would have a "make-over" night! Along with primping and pampering your girls (pick some fun cosmetics, fake eyelashes, hair pretties and nail polish at dollar store)let the girls "make-over" Grandpa and take pictures! maybe even a fashion show?

I'm sure she'll always remember doing something like that.

One of my favorite childhood memories of my dad was doing that to him (inevitably the paper boy came to collect just as he had full makeup on and barettes in his hair. He would just answer the door and pay him looking like that.)
