My daughter's first b-day is in March and my husband and I are throwing a big bash for all our friends and family as a sort of "celebration of life" since our daughter had such a hard time coming into this world and now she is doing soooo well. My problem is that there are several older children (elementary age) that will be invited who are well--OUT OF CONTROL--(they break things, run around, tease kids, hit, scream, ect.) and at any party they are at they run around and do everything they are not supposed to be doing and their parents dont say or do anything (hence the reason they are out of control)....we cant not invite them because most are my husband's cousin's kids....my biggest problem is trying to think of an indoor (since its March) activity that will keep them too busy to get in trouble but at the same time I dont want to have to follow them around making sure they behave b/c it is MY daughters b-day...I want this party to be fun not stressful since we are renting a hall and I dont want things to get broken there....any advice is helpful :o)

What can I do next?

Maybe have a magician or a clown to entertain the kids? If you have already booked the hall, than you need to find someone who can entertain the kids and keep them out of trouble. Otherwise, I suggest Chuck E Cheese because there are alot of fun things the kids can do or find a place that has some inflatable moonwalks they can jump on to burn off some energy.

You could rent this thing called a tumble bus. It comes to your location and the kids can bounce around and play on this bus. I have never used them, but my girlfriend did for her daughters first birthday in December. She said the kids loved it.

Congratulations on your daughters first year of life! I know exactly what you are saying. We have the same problem with kids in our family. They are WILD and their parents won't do a thing about it. Most of ours are girls and constantly want to pick my daughter up and she has been dropped several times. She is 18 months old and it is still a problem. I agree with the Chuck E Cheese idea. We had our party at home, but were lucky enough that it was a unusually warm day in April so the kids stayed outside. I did have craft activities for them to do, but they finished in about 6 minutes! (Foam visors with the foamies stickers to decorate them) I couldn't believe it! I was very stressed that day! Good luck to you and try to relax and enjoy this very wonderful milestone for your family!

McDonalds with a play area usually do birthday parties, too. They'll even bring out a cake, balloons, and party favors. You can also find a "Pump-It-Up" hall that caters parties as well but they're a little more expensive. Whatever you decide remember to have fun. She's come a long way and they are only this age once.
