I was recently diagnosed with Gastroenteritis(I had to go to the E.R yesterday due to lot's of stomach pain & blood in my stool, Sorry TMI) I'm still waiting for further test results to see if I have IBS or Crohn's Disease) I'm 33 weeks along. I read in a book that women with IBS or any other stomach disease/disorder may have to have C-Sections to give birth. Just wondering how many moms out there have one of these disorders and if you have had a C-Section because of this.

What can I do next?

I have IBS and have had all 3 of my kids vaginally. The last and largest at 8lbs 12 oz was born at home with midwives. Not one of my OBs or midwives ever said anything about having a C-section because I had IBS.

Good luck!

My sister-in-law has Crohn's and she had to have a C-section. She nor her docs wanted the stress on her lower intestines that would naturally come with the pushing.

I have IBS and didn't need a c-section with either one of my kids, and our second one was a face-first delivery that often leads to a c-section. A plus to pregnancy was that my IBS would go away. It was nice to pack away the Immodium for nine months.

I have IBS, and I have delivered two children naturally. Strangely enough, most of my symptoms disappeared during my first pregnancy and post-partum. Not so lucky the second time around though.
