HI C.
how are you?? I'm sorry to hear you may be going into labor prior to schedule. hopefully if you keep yourself as relaxed as possible you can hold off for another few weeks, at least. About the breast pump...have you tried talking to your caseworker about the situation? Also...you may be able to rent one at the hospital and get it tacked onto the hospital bill, which I assume medicaid is covering. Any way you go, you should definitely be able to get medicaid to take care of it. you will probably need some sort of verification from your doctor saying that you have gone into preterm labor and that if the baby does come too early, breastmilk will be most beneficial for her. I think its so great you want to breastfeed! It would be so wonderful for your little girl to get the added immunity, etc..from your breastmilk, especially if she's early. My best advice is to call the medicaid office, or your caseworker to ask what you can do. If medicaid cant help, I'm sure you can contact Healthy Start in your area. I gave birth in Gainesville, so all the numbers I have are for the Alachua county area. I'm not sure where you are, but if you are close and want me to send you the numbers, let me know. Off the top of my head, the health dept., where you can reach a Healthy Start rep is ###-###-####. I hope something in this is helpful! I know its kind of rambling.
Good luck with everything!
A.
