I started bleeding heavy with bad cramps almost like labor pains on the 22nd. then the blood got lighter and lighter by the 26 and all of a sudden im bleeding again this morning lighly again. Does this mean I am having a miscarriage? by the way my period isnt supposed to come until the 30th. I am going to make a doctor appt but i was wondering if this has happened to angbody and can you give me any advice on symptoms of a miscarriage. I keep having hot flashes and i am only 22.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It was not a miscarriage, it turned out i took my birth control patch off and thats what caused the hot flashes and the early bleeding

Since you don't have a confirmed pregnancy, I would not automatically suspect that you are miscarrying. Have you ever had history of PCOS or endemetriosis? It sounds like you are having hormonal changes with the hot flashes which are consistent with these types of issues.

Your doctor should be able to give you more information, but for now, take a tylenol and keep your feet up as much as you can with an 8 month old.

Good luck dear!

I have had 4 miscarriages and never had any hot flashes with them. But they are very painful.Mine lasted a few hours once I passed everything the pain was gone.Your doctor might be able to dertermine with a ultra sound or lab work if you were pregnant.Hopefully it was just a bad period.Take care.

i know this is hard with an 8 month old but don't lift anything heavy and lay down on your left side as much as possible. my girlfriend had this with her second child and her hubby was out of town for training and she had a 3yr old. she went to the doc right away and they told her to do absolutely nothing but lay down! this is all the advice i can give. i will pray for you and your baby!!!God bless!!!!

I had very heavy bleeding/clots while pregnant with my daughter and it turned out to be placenta previa--a condition where the placenta is so low that it actually leakes out. My daughter was born 7lbs./3oz and is fine now. It was scary but afterwards, everything was fine. I have also had a miscarriage but that was blood plus mucous leaking, much different from the placenta previa. See your doctor quickly.

K.,

there are many gynecological problems that could cause this. Try not to make any assumptions until your Dr has had a chance to examine you and run some tests. I know that when we get off of our regular cycle it can be scarry, but there are some perfectly benign reasons that this can happen.

good luck to you from an old RN,
