Honestly I am not sure why I have such strong feelings for a platform I rarely use yet there it is.... I hate it!!!

Does anyone else hate the changes to Facebook?

So What Happened?

About the only ray of hope is there is this question button where you and your friends can add answer options. Should be interesting to see how many different ways my friends hate Facebook.

Well Dawn apparently as a supreme show of arrogance Facebook now believes they can predict which posts are important to you and puts them on top. I have been looking for an hour and cannot find a way to compel the site to sort them most recent on top. :( I really just do not like change....

This was posted by one of my friends...

I'm also really diggin' these new "smart" lists. Has facebook recommended the same people to be "close friends" AND Acquaintances like it has for me? "We use many factors to determine which posts you'd be interested in such as (insert bullshit)".

May I suggest a more accurate statement? "We randomly determine what posts you'd be interested in, and constantly bombard you with "recommendations" that you probably have no interest in. These recommendations may also be entirely random, but will include anyone who has any connection with anyone we believe may have any connection, direct, indirect, real, or imagined by us to you, a location that you may have once been in (or may someday go to), or an event that happened somewhere in the universe. We appreciate any input that you provide*

*Any input concerning your likes, dislikes, interests, noninterests or suggestions to improve this site will be promptly ignored."

Pretty much says it all

I had to laugh when I saw this post. EVERYONE seems to hate it and is whining about it, except me. Here's my FB status for today:

Imagine: A guy has a really great idea & writes a cool software program. You love it & find that it really enhances your day-to-day computer experience. You use it everyday. Some people complain because it's missing certain features, etc, so he hires a bunch of programmers to spend their days improving it to be fresh, relevant & never outdated. He even gives you these updates for FREE, which is unusual for software developers. How much would you be willing to pay for this program? You don't want to pay? You want it for free? You're in luck, it is already free! And you're using it right now!! Yep, I'm talking about FB. So, maybe, we should be a little more grateful and a lot less whiney. Otherwise, call FB and tell them you want to pay a monthly subscription fee so that you can call customer service and complain about it.

lol! I noticed people on my FB complaining today but I didn't notice anything. I guess I'm not a very savvy user? Or I don't use whatever features have changed?

I cancelled my account years ago since it got hacked and started spamming my friends and family. Did you know you can never delete your Facebook account (maybe, now you can, I do not know, to be honest), so even though I deactivated it and asked them to delete it, they refused to delete it for months. Meanwhile, spam was flying everywhere where!hehe. I don't agree with how it makes money from its users' personal info either. Plus, isn't the whole thing a bit narcisistic?

I am a big FB'er and hate it as well. One thing to try tho, as far as those "Top Stories" they are so kindly sorting for us. On the top right side of them there is a little down arrow. If you click it a dropmenu appears. Click the one that says unmark this as a top story. Then a window pops up saying something about how they apologize and will try not to top story this in the future or some such (basically I think this has US tell THEM this person or groups postings are not that important to us).

I have been doing it to almost every single one and now I am getting none and they are appearing to just be in a timestamp order again. One major issue hopefully more normal again? One can hope.

My biggest issue is the other ticker along the right, where it shows all your pals likes and comments. You are able to click on each friend individually and do that dropmenu and choose to not see their likes and comments. But they still see yours until THEY choose not to and do that same dropmenu. So the privacy thing there is what gets me. Some friends and I even "tested" it yesterday. A friend set her privacy as tight as it gets, then on chat asked me if I was still seeing her stuff (she was randomly clicking "like" on pages of groups for cooking sites and such), and yes, I was seeing all of it still.

Here is a story about MORE changes!
But if you click thru the pictures a tthe bottom of the article it does "explain" some of the stuff pretty well.

I didn't like it at first, but now I do! If you set up your "lists" to be how you want them, you can see the posts you want instead of ALL of them at once. So I have a list of "close friends" and "family" and "Minneapolis area" and a few more. I can click on each and see a subset of all the posts from that group. You don't have to take FB's recommendations, you can set these up yourself pretty quickly.

The window in the upper right is more like a "Twitter feed" and is showing the latest posts from all of your connections. Just click on any of these that catches your eye and it show you the detail behind it.

The pictures people post are bigger and easier to see.

So, change is not all bad. I'm sure it won't be the last time we see changes on FB.

Hey you whipper snappers. leave our facebook alone!!! {{{Shaking my fist of rage!!!}}}

Hee, heee. I was at a football game tonight and listening to all of the grumbling (including me) cracked me up.

We sound like a bunch or "old folks" on the porch, that can't take change.

I agree I liked it fine the way it was, I posted along with others we want the old FB back.. we will just have to see if the kids in control will listen to us.

I know there was a way to get the most recent back on top, I did it earlier today. I clicked on something on the top of the page but now I can't find it, it disappeared. So it might not be that you can't figure it out, it might just be something they need to fix. I bet it'll be changed soon. :-)

Well, between work today I have been playing with it. If you just shove everyone in your "closest" group then you will see everything again (I think, not even sure that will work!!!)! I don't love it but am trying to "embrace" the change. I'm on it all the time and can't imagine giving it up so I will have to adjust!!!! Although its the same on my phone and therefore since I'm mostly on it on my phone and not laptop I *may* survive it!!!

The smart list has infuriated me. It has people on there that I almost hate and NEVER EVER talk to (but had to add because they're family and I didn't want the family drama of declining). It's ok, because we NEVER talk, and I never publicly post things unless I don't care if the whole world knows anyway---that's what private messaging is for. BUT this stupid smart list lists these people I never talk to, and where is my mom? 2 of my friends that I speak with daily? And 3/4 of the people on the smart list aren't even online. It's just aggravating. I just want it the old way where if someone is online, they are shown on the list. THE END.Yes I am aware that it's stupid that I'm getting upset about it, but that doesn't magically make me feel better. The new news feed.....I don't really even know how that works.

I woke up this morning to the changes. I mulled over it again this afternoon and I'm still somewhat confused at what the heck is going on. I hate change period for the most part. Seems like whenever you get comfortable with the platform they change it again. Progress sucks, haha. I'm sure I'll get used to this new version and then in a couple of months it will be all different again. They are trying to make it more like Google+ I think.... my son keeps telling me to go to Google+, but it confused me. You can now categorize everyone into specific groups I guess? But I havent figured out how to do that yet. I suppose I'll wait until someone can explain it to me in laymen's terms.

I posted ALL day long yesterday about how much I hate the NEW facebook.

I hate it.

If I cant get used to it by the beginning of next week....I may delete my account.

I told my hubby and a few people that I think that was their plan.....This was there way of helping us unplug the addiction we have to Social networking?!?

Talk about only showing people what you want them to see...That is how I look at it....I post things to my FB wall that I want to post there...Dont pick and choose what people see of mine.

People understand who I am pretty well...And even those who dont know me very well..get that I am very outspoken on my platforms...So having someone behind the scenes pick and choose SUCKS!

Yes it is a free service...But when you have almost everyone on this earth with a facebook account...The free service they mess up is gonna put a loud kink into all of us!

It is the PERFECT example of DONT FIX WHAT AIN'T BROKEN....I think it is safe to say that everyone liked FB the old way....not needing someone to filter their page.
