What is your tested and trusted way to lose weight? Between the birth of my first child and the second, i have piled on extra weight that does not seem to be going anywhere. I did breastfeed both my babies exclusively for the first 6 months, still I did not lose weight.
What has helped you keep the pounds off? Thanks for your help.

I have to agree with a lot of tips you've received here-portion control, lots of water, daily exercise. If you need a structured program, Weight Watchers is amazing. If you follow the program you will lose the weight. Mind you, you won't lose 5,6 lbs a week, but you will lose a steady 1 lb-2 lbs per week. All the while you will be learning really healthy eating habits. I am a lifetime member who has struggled w/my weight all of my life. Not a huge amount, but about 25 stubborn pounds from time to time. Weight watchers always helps me take it off and I always appreciate the sense of being back in control.
Good luck!

Hey! I wanted to send you a link to the wonderful program that I've started. I finished my 9 day program a couple of weeks ago and lost 7 pounds in 9 just days. This morning, I started my 30 day program and hope to lose at least 15-20 additional pounds after 30 days. When I was first introduced to Isagenix, I was very leary b/c I figured it was just another "diet", but once I actually completed the program, I found that it truly works and is also good for you! Take a look:
http://theangelapate.isagenix.com
It works wonderfully - I have dropped 25 obs in only 2 bottles worth of usage. I am really bad about staying on things - but when I follow the program correctly it works wonders for me.
I was at 169 at 5'4" and hated it...... i am not down to 142 and determined to work my way back to down to my comfy weight... I am almost there.
Check it out - Its not a DIET pill - its a fat blocker and forces your to watch what you put into your body or you will spend most of yor time in the restroom, lol.... As long as you eat healthy foods and drinks you wont deal with the side effects.... its a win win situation. Once you start to eat correctly - it becomes second nature and wont seem like such work!
Good luck - I also bought a separate book that goes with it - it is filled with recipes, meal plans and restaraunt ideas so you can still go out to eat...
Well first of all AdijatI feel your pain...been there.
Whats always worked for me and is a proven "lifestyle" is eating small meals throughout the day and you would be amazed how easy this is to assimilate to. Ok, a normal woman usually needs about 1500 calories a day but normally we tend to eat alot in one sitting and exceed this amount by end of day, so all you need to do it break it up. Plan on eating 5 times a day, prepare your meals so you know what you will eat (I prepare 3 for the day, eat one before i leave home and save dinner to eat with my family which equals to 5) . Every two-three hours eat. Prepare each meal to be approximately 2-300 calories each and stay away from the sugery or starchy foods. Supplement with Splenda, equal, for sugar toppings and choose whole wheat products vs. white. Eating 5 times at 300 calories you keep your metabolism moving all day. Any activity you might do will help as well so you will be burning fat, and gaining energy without any effort. This will surely slim you down.
Any workout you can incorporate such as walking, cardio, weight training will really pump up the weight loss.
I've done this for years and I've managed to keep the weight off but the more workouts I incorporate the stronger and leaner I get. Good luck!!
I am just losing the last 10+ pounds and thought they would never come off. A friend shared a bible study with me...yes, I said bible study. It is online and you are assigned a mentor to help encourage you. It is FREE. Go to:
www.settingcaptivesfree.com and go down to the left side some to "The Lord's Table".
This study has changed not only my physical body, lost 8 of the pounds in 4 weeks) but has also effected me spiritually. What an amazing study and a sure way to lose weight...anytime God's word is the center of the matter, it will work. If you have questions or comments...feel free to contact me.

i have been doing the south beach diet and it works but is really hard the first 2 weeks you can loose up to 6 pounds the first 2 weeks and you will love the food you eat i have the ebook if you want it i can email you

I gained 30 pounds when I was pregnant and I've been losing weight by just changing the way I'm eating. I don't eat a lot of sugar, no fast food.... And also, portion size is a big deal. I eat 5 small meals a day. Plus, I walk with my daughter for 40 minutes a day. I'm not losing the weight super fast, but it's coming off.
You know, I am sure the solutions offered already will work if you stick to them. However, for me I tried dieting through a national weight loss center as well as joining a gym (which I used 3-4 times weekly) but it still didn't come off. What worked for me was getting a new job! I went from a desk job to one that I barely sat down all day. I guess what this says about me is that I have very little will power to avoid those tasty office snacks and to work out enough daily :) When it was part of my job, I was active for 8 hours a day and didn't have to think about it so the weight melted right off. Obviously with many careers that isn't possible. I was in Logistics at the time so I switched to a warehouse manager position. As a more general answer for you, just try hard to be more active. Make it a point to take your kids to the park every day that you can. Or walk your dog if you have one. Just standing as opposed to sitting can do wonders. I had a friend that lost 20 pounds by just walking an hour to two hours a day and very slight diet modification. I try to do lunges as I push my son in swings and step up and down on other equipment as he plays. Don't try for massive weight loss at once. Just modify your lifestyle slowly and let it happen naturally. That way you won't ever hit your goal weight then start packing back on the pounds when the "diet" is over. If you are a candy lover (like I am), start small with something like a 3 Musketeers instead of a Snickers. Or 1% milk instead of whole, etc. I am a big believer in not denying yourself or forcing yourself to do something you don't like. For the record, I went from a typical weight of about 170 to around 130. Good luck!
Walk at least 30 min/day, drink at least 70oz H2O/day, don't eat after 7pm. When you feel like you need a snack, divert your attention to something else like reading.
According to the Alli website, it makes you "poop" in your pants. Here is the link: http://www.myalli.com/howdoesitwork/treatmenteffects.aspx
"You may feel an urgent need to go to the bathroom. Until you have a sense of any treatment effects, it's probably a smart idea to wear dark pants, and bring a change of clothes with you to work" from their website.
I am always amazed that women would be willing to poop on themselves in public, nonetheless to lose weight.

I will tell you the same thing my doctor told me that has worked : Weight Watchers is the most tried and true program for long term weight loss and success keeping it off. I lost 35 pounds last year. I kind of stayed the same during the holidays, but that was my choice. Now I am back on track to loose more. I used Weight Watchers after my first child and lost 54 pounds. A family member of mine lost 75. There are meeting leaders who have lost it and kept it off 25 years. It works because they teach you how to be healthy, how to eat right and how to get enough exercise. You can still eat your favorite foods, you just learn how much of it your can eat without gaining weight and you can also use thier tools to learn to remake dishes healthier if you want, make new ones, or just learn how to eat out healthier. I can go anywhere and stay on my plan pretty easily. They have a dining out guide that tells you the points value of most foods and you can look it up by restruant, or just go to AppleBee's, which tells you the point value. Basicaly, you eat up to a certian number of points a day. If you want to eat more, you can to a certain amount by exercising. You eat five fruits or vegtables a day, two dairy, and lots of water. Start off your day with those guidelines and you'll be fine. It is very healthy, everyone shares tips at meetings, I can't recommend it enough. Other deits don't work because you have to either eat thier food, which makes it hard when you are cooking for a family or eating out, or you have to restrict yourself and not eat certain things, which doesn't last, or they are too expensive. Buy the monthly pass (nine bucks a week) and have it pretake out of your account so it is already paid for and you can just go. Some people don't like to do that, and just pay by cash, check, or CC weekly, and that is fine. Think of it as saving you moeny because being fat has hidden expenses. I can eat what I want, just in moderation, and they teach you that through thier system, as well as healthier choices. I can fix for my whole family and we can all eat the same thing and it isn't diet food. I know that I am also teaching them healthy eatting. I eat a lot of organics and I also buy some of thier products, which can be found in Walmart and almost any food store. Good luck. :)
I've found that Weight Watchers worked for me. I've had three kids (4 year old, 22 month old, and a 13 week old). I didn't start the program until after I had my second child (six months post partum). I was able to lose over 35 pounds in around 4 1/2 months (1 to 2 pounds a week).
I stayed healthier and exercised with my third pregnancy and still gained over 40 pounds (baby was 8lbs11oz), however, I started up with the Weight Watchers program around 6 weeks postpartum and have had success with it once again. It seems to take a little bit more effort this time around. It being my third kid and all, plus I hit the 30s!!! But I"m losing the standard 1 to 2 pounds a week again. WW taught me portion control and how to eat when I'm hungry and not for other reasons. Exercise and portion control are what works for me!! I have about 14 pounds to go to get down to my prepregnancy weight.
I'd suggest Weight Watchers to any one!!! Using the online tools is nice too. You can revamp your own recipes to make them more figure friendly.
go to www.sparkspeople.com its free and great information and support. check it out
Good luck!!!!!!!!
Get on a high protein diet, eggs, meats, tuna etc.
& try to do some kind of exercise if possible & do sugar free stuff, and you will notice the weight to drop pretty fast ! I did this and lost about 50 lbs. In 4-5 mos. Time ! Good luck !! ~
I gained 70 pounds with my pregnancy so I can so relate. I breastfed for the first year and only lost about 1/2 of that. It wasn't until the second year of breastfeeding (and running after a toddler) that the weight really started to melt off. My advice would be to continue breastfeeding for as long as possible and following a sensible diet. Run around with the kids -- which I"m sure isn't hard with a 4 yr old boy -- and don't follow any extreme diets that might only cause you to yo-yo up. I'd recommend the book You on a Diet since it has really simple and easy to follow advice that you can actually live with. Weight Watchers is great too because you eat real food and they teach you how to live better. With me, it wasn't until about 2nd year that my weight went back to normal and all of this without any crazy diets. My guess is you'll be back to your old self eventually.
