I Need to Ask a Nurse a Question!

I have been unable to use my exercise bike recently due to pain in the area of whatever attaches the hip to the torso. I guess it's a ligament? If you put your hand sideways down where your leg attaches, I had periodic pain that is now regular, stabbing, throbbing pain and I don't know what it's called to look it up. ??

I don't ask my doctor(s) due to a total lack of faith in them. My 3 most recent ailments were all solved by family & friends, and the doctors were clueless. It's time to ask a nurse =)

What can I do next?

I had a pain similar to that and had a MD say it was prob a ligament that had gotten pulled. It took time to resolve but I try to prevent it by stretching my hip laterally prior to running/evxcercise. If there is still pain especially with movement, it is god to get it checked out.

I would find a new doc and ask them. Call ones covered by your ins and say I am looking for a new doc and have a pain. I can relate to how you feel about docs (one told my husband he was not over weight when he is pushing 300#) but not all of them are clueless. Try to find one a friend really likes and comes reccomended.
Good luck

I'm not a nurse, but i did have an appendicitis. And I had pain like you did and could not stand up straight when all of it happened. Any more symptoms other than that pain? Get to the doctor for your sake. It could be even a sign that it is starting to have problems. I had that on a Monday, went to the hosptial and didn't have surgery until Thursday (they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me because I was pregnant at the time)...by that time, it ruptured. Hope this helps!

T.,

I am not a doctor either, but it sounds like you may be talking about your hip flexor muscle. It is the muscle that attaches your hip to your leg muscles, slightly below your hip bone. I was a college athlete and pulled this muscle on two different occasions. It is very painful because you flex that muscle every time you move your leg to walk. If it is pulled or strained, it will heal on its own but it will take some rest to get it healed. (which is tough because you use it all the time every day!) I would recommend though, that you do see a doctor just in case it is something serious. Good luck!
