I Need Some Sleep Again

My kids are 4 years and 9 months and share a room. I count myself proud that my kids are both good at putting themselves to sleep at least until 3 weeks ago. I got pneumonia and my youngest started teething. She was doing great. We would put her down and she would put herself to sleep until 4 am then wake to nurse then back to sleep. I could work with that. When I got sick and she was teething my husband would just bring her into bed with me I would nurse her until we both fell asleep again. From there the troubles started. Now she wakes at 11:30 or midnight and unless I bring her to bed with me cries for an hour. Because she shares a room with her brother I don't let her cry too long as I don't want to wake him. Any suggestions would be great. I am not against CIO but I am NOT a family bed person. Nobody seems to sleep that way.

What can I do next?

I have a 9 month old and 4 year old as well so I know how you feel. They also share a room. I don't like CIO but it has worked for us (better with my 4 year old but I work and well, we all need sleep). IF and only if you want to go that route here is something we tried. I put a sleeping bag on the floor in our room and told the older if sister woke her up she could come in here and sleep on her sleeping bag. She did this one night and the next several nights never woke up (or at least not enought to want to come to our room). I have had to modify CIO a little with this one as it hasn't worked quite as well (or maybe I'm just weaker this time around) but we are now through teething and getting a 8-5:30 pretty consistantly or if she makes noise puts herself back to sleep. and yes the older wakes on occassion but not as often as I would have thought. Don't know what kind of sleeper your older one is but this is just a thought.

I decided on the pans made in Brazil and now made in the old Mirro plant in the Wisconsin. They are also building a plant in Texas. Tramontina is the brand. I had one for seven years and it works so well due to the heavy bottom that I broke down and bought the set.
It works on every type of stove from the European electric to the gas ones and hold the heat beautifully.
Look it up on line. The heavy bottom cooks fabulously. If I burn food it cleans up easily with vineager and baking soda.

Sounds like she is in the habit of having you there. My son would do this when he got sick about this age and we'd get him. Then for a couple nights it was tough getting him back on schedule. We did let him cry. Made sure he was ok and then did let him cry for 10-15 minutes (unless uncontrollable) and he did learn to soothe himself back down... good luck.
