Okay, so i have 2 kids. 18 months and 4 years. My 4 year old was great and has slept through the night since she was like 7 months. Well my 18 month old is totally different. She has had acid reflux and alot of junk since birth, so sleeping has always been a problem. When she had her adnoids removed and tubes put in her ears i was thinking that i would finally get her to sleep. This didnt help. So she wakes up atleast 3+ times a night. Most nights i have to sleep in the rocking chair b/c everytime i lay her down she cries. Then when she does sleep, she tosses and turns and fusses all night so she has to sleep with me and i have to pat her back all night. Wow, that was a mouthful, but i need help!

What can I do next?

Where's dad??? Tell him you need some sleep and it's his turn to take care of a sick baby all night.

18 months old is also a growth-spurt time.
Not that that helps.
But my kids would have total increased appetites, at all growth-spurts.
And yes, they woke.

Since she has Reflux, I imagine that is why.
She probably gets sleep-deprivation too.
Lack of sleep, makes it harder for babies/kids to sleep, they sleep worse and wake more.
Over-tiredness.... makes it harder to sleep.

Does she nap????

Oh dear-wish you would have written a year ago-but let's move forward! She has to be put to bed awake-and figure out how to get herself to sleep. This is one of the most difficult things to do-and you cannot give in even once. She's going to cry-a lot-but after a couple of nights-she'll get the hang of it and learn to go to sleep and go back to sleep if she wakes up in the middle of the night. Good luck-be strong.

Is she on meds for the reflux? They may not be working anymore.

You may also want to try and put a pillow underneath her mattress to help keep the acid down.

If the sleep issues are not reflux/health induced, you may want to let her fuss in her own bed instead of bringing her into your bed. She may just be used to you doing all that and wants you to keep doing it.

My oldest slept horribly too! Do you try feeding her some rice or oatmeal right before bed? Maybe a full tummy would help her to sleep, at least for a L. while... Reflux is painful, especially laying on the back.. I had my son sleep propped up on a boppy pillow and that also seemed to help. Good luck :)
