I Need Help! My Daughter Is Always Sick

My family and I moved here in October and we have always been a very healthy family. Since we have moved to Idaho I can only think of a few weeks when we haven't been sick. My 2 1/2 year old seems to get hit more often than anyone else. She always seems to have a cold, and not just the sniffles, but up all night, stuffy nose and the occasional fever kind of cold. Is this normal for a cold winter climate? I have tried everything I can think of to sanitize our house, but she just keeps getting sick.

What can I do next?

This may not help much this year but my best advice is to make sure that your kids get flu shots! I have lived in Rexburg with my three children for 4 years now and have suffered through a few winters with constantly sick kids. This year my two oldest got flu shots and neither of them have had more than a small sniffle all winter long! It has been our best winter ever. Hope this helps.

There is this nasty thing called the "Crud". My Daughter is has it most of the winter. There really isn't anything you can do. Keep a cool it humidifier on her at night, it should hlp brea up te congestion. Good luck. Oh try giving her airborne for kids it will boost her immune system.

My son was always sick. We did colds alll winter long and pnuemonia at least three times a winter. My daughter was also sick a lot, so they were put on singulair. They have only had one cold this winter and it was very mild. The doctor figured it was alergies triggering them. You might want to try giving them children's claritine. That helped my kids before they went on singulair. I hope this helps.

Have you taken her to an ear, nose, and throat doctor? My oldest child (who is 7 now) was ALWAYS sick. The doctor took his tonsils and adnoids out when he was 19 mo. old. My 3 year old daughter just had hers out the end of OCT 07. Im telling you, this makes a HUGE difference! They are never sick anymore. Good luck to you, I know what you are going through.:)
