I Need Help in Finding Activities

The Orlando Science Center is awesome--and in our many months of hot weather a great place to take kids. They have great exhibits and an IMAX theater.

Right next to the Science Center is the Art Museum. Your son may be a little young to enjoy it, but they have some great exhibits and offer camps (as does the science center) in the summer.
Orange and Seminole County have some awesome parks too. As do the cities of Orlando and Winter Park. You can find the ones close to you and their facilities by going to each of the
city or counties respective site. For example for Orange county go to

But this will only have the county parks and not Orlando, Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, etc city parks listed.
Orange County has some that have skateboarding ramps and half pipes, disc golf (aka frisbee golf), splash parks, lakes, etc. plus the usual playground equipment.
The YMCA is also very big here in central Florida with tons of resources for families. Their membership is well worth the many things they have to offer. (but you can still sign up for sports, camps, etc without being a member). There are Y's all over too so I'm sure there is one relatively close to where you live.
Oh and when you get a chance, take him out to Merritt Island where the Space Center is. They have LOTS of stuff to do and kids love it!
There are summer camps for EVERYTHING around here--so whatever yours sons interest you can find something. Anything from the usual YMCA to Sea World, Arts, sports, Drama, etc.

Try the Orlando Science Center in Loch Haven Park. You can go online and see their summer programs.

Not sure in where in Orlando you are but I have a 5 year old boy too. Maybe they could get together and play sometime.
I like taking him to the Kanga Room it's an indoor playland with inflatables.
I also like taking him to the park before we go to school. He is in the VPK program at First Friends.
I know the Karate place right next door is running a special right now.

where are you located? Try the local church (ours has a Fellowship for Moms that is just Moms meeting and doing things) local high schools may have swimming lessons or teams, your library should have some sort of story time, or something for older kids, there is Monkee Joe's up my way that has an indoor play place for kids...Our church runs a Vacation Bible School. Many do..SOme local schools have summer programs for kids, Sweetwater Episcopal Academy in Altamonte has a weekly day camp that is wonderful...

Go to www.MeetUp.com and search Orlando. You can meet others of like minds, not jsut for you and your son, but jsut for you too! I am part of some really great meetup groups. The Young Adventurers is one for families with "older" kids (not those moms and baby groups). The organizer Debrah is a wealth of information. She has 2 kids under 9, I have 2 under 12. There is a place in Baldwin Park that has art classes for children that some of my friends go to. There is a zoo in Sanford (Central Florida Zoo) that is pretty good. The Orlando Science Center has passes that are pretty affordable. Sea World has annual passes that cost the same for FL residents as a one day admission does. The YMCA has numerous sports opportunities for 5 year olds. Good luck and Welcome to Orlando!
