I am at a loss with trying to find a preschool for my 3 1/2 yr. old daughter. I dont know many people so have nobody to get advice from! Can someone please give me some names of good preschools in the New Market/Frederick Maryland area. I want something that is more structured and educational vs. play time. I am overwhelmed and hoping to get some places to at least get a start. Thanks for any advice you can give.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. It definatly helped to get a few places to start. I have Sophie on a waiting list and we cross our fingers that she can get into this one. Thanks again for your help.

I work with one called Kids Come First Learning Center. I have a couple friends that have their kids there and seemed to like it. I believe the number is ###-###-####. If you want, I could put you in contact with my friend in New Market for a referral.

My oldest son, who will be 5 in July, started preschool at Frederick Country Day Montessori last fall. He absolutely loves it, and I'm totally amazed at what he has learned! The tuition is a bit on the pricey side but is worth every penny in my opinion. The phone number is ###-###-#### and the web address is www.frederickcountryday.com. You can schedule a time to observe a class and take a tour to determine if the school is a good fit for your daughter. I'd be glad to answer any questions you may have. I hope this helps. Good luck!

C.,

I have heard good things about Calvary and Wee Folk in Downtown Frederick as well as Good Shepherd on 7th Street.

I have not used any of these personally (I started my girls in Pre-K at Mother Seton in Emmitsburg, which is a hike, but I LOVE it there). I have friends who currently have their kids enrolled (I know at least one at each school) and they all have nothing but good things to say about where their kids are.

One thing to look out for is the MOMS Club Pre-School Fair which usually happens in the Fall. One of the Frederick area MOMS Clubs gathers all the local preschools in one location for one night and you can "shop" the schools in an environment much like a Job Fair.

Good- Luck!

Hi C.,

I can give you a few in the Frederick & Walkersville area. First, Church of the Brethren on corner of Fairview & Rosemont. It costs a lot, but is an exceptional school. The next is Calvary, downtown Frederick, another good one is Good Shepherd on 7th Street. The final one in Frederick would be Trinity, over near Costco.

In Walkersville, there is the Methodist Church on Main St. Any of these should meet the criteria you are looking for.

Hope this helps!

Hi,
Why does it need to be more educational than playtime. I am just wondering, no judgements here. Is your daughter interested in learning or does she need the stucture because there isn't much in other areas of her life?

My son is in the public preschool in our county, but we just use it for a big daily playdate. When he gets to K, we will homeschool him like his older sister. Best of luck finding what you seek.
