welcome to mamapedia, M.

There are a lot of support groups out there. What is going to set yours apart from the others?

Are you focusing only on teenagers or grown children?
Why don't you ask the members of your support group for their input on the name?

I'm sorry you lost a child to drugs. May their memory be eternal.

You should consider: (1) is “mother” a requirement and (2) is “losing a child” a requirement, of membership?

Maybe “Women Against Illegal Drugs” - WAID.

“WAID into your future - don’t do drugs.”

“Explain to me why drugs are worth doing. Go on, I’m WAIDing.”

Or: Ladies Against Illegal Drugs (LAID), Parents Against Illegal Drugs (PAID), Mothers Against Illegal Drugs (MAID), Fathers Against Illegal Drugs (FAID), Relatives Against Illegal Drugs (RAID), Stepparents Against Illegal Drugs (SAID).

If I don't know what your group is doing? I can't help you name it. Are you targeting a specific drug or age group?

How many people do you have in this support group already? What do they suggest the name be?

If you have lost a child to drug addiction, I'm truly sorry.

Moms Against Drugs = MAD, Moms Against Drug Use = MADU, Moms Raising Awareness of Drugs = MRAD, Moms Against Drug Addiction = MADA. Sorry if these are not very creative.

So sorry you've been through this and sorry for your loss.

Have you considered starting a chapter of an already established group? There are quite a few and you'd have the support (some across the country, even North America). Just a thought - that way you'd have the backing and the info/input from existing chapters.

I know of GRASP for example - but there are many others.

I like the idea of a tribute in someone's name, or an area so that it has meaning to the members.

Good luck :)
