I'm due to have my baby on Christmas eve but am completely clueless on a name for a boy. I've looked and looked but nothing has clicked. Unfortunately I don't know what I'm having (Husband wanted this one to be a surprize). My first son's name is Brendon Christopher. I have a name picked out for a girl (Katelyn Alexis). Any ideas or suggestions on a name for a boy please post. I'm looking for something not completely out there and unheard of but not something traditional like Micheal. I really love the name Devon Tyler but my husband isn't too wild about it...but he hasn't come up with anything better. As for naming him after someone in the family, there's already too many named after everyone else. I think every child should have his/her own name. My husband is a junior and always hated it so that won't work. When I look in name books there are just so many that I can't decide on. I just feel stuck, and it's getting too close to that time.
Thank you everyone for your ideas and suggestions. Baby arrived 12-28-06 and was a little girl. Her name is Katelyn Alexis. :)

First off, Congratulations :) My personal favorite for a boys name is Preston Justis. My husband and I have a 10 month old daughter that we named Carleigh Isabelle. If we decide to get pregnant again and we have a boy, we will be naming him Preston Justis. Good luck!
Go to that website - it will assist you in picking a name based on criteria that you enter, such as ethnic origin, celebrity picks, editor's picks, starts with letter ?, most popular names in year ????. It's an awesome tool.
Hope that helps!

P.S. Personal favorites - Gabriel, Ellis, Jacob

Your post is from November, but it's featured at sign on now. I'm a new member to the forum, so I missed it in November. I just wanted to ask if you've had the baby yet. My birthday is December 26 (I've had 45 of them!), and I think it's THE best time of the year to have a birthday. It always made me feel special to be a Christmas baby.
Enjoy! And if there is only one piece of advice I can give from the perspective of being a Christmas baby, can I just say, Please, Please, Please, don't take down the Christmas decorations when you celebrate your baby's birthdays. Yep. We want our birthdays acknowledged as being a separate event from Christmas, but it's also very special to have a Christmastime birthday. Hey! If you're birthday is July 12, or some other "ordinary" day, you don't get to have trees and lights and other stuff hanging around, do you!
Oh, second bit of advice! Don't wrap birthday presents in Christmas paper. By the same token, it's really uncool to write in "Happy Birthday" at the bottom of a Christmas card. :)

I am having my third girl next month, but I loved the boy's name Mason (I won't be using it :)
For this last little girl, my husband came up with a cute name. Marissa - it's a combo of his name (Mark) and my name (M.). You can try some combo's of your and your husbands name and see what you come up with. Just another idea for ya...

Firts of all I want to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! This is such an exciting time for you and your husband. I have 2 girls and I went for the unusual names, but also Irish. Irish is in both my husband's family and mine, so we wanted to keep it going. My girls are Dalyce (pronounced Dallas) Eleanor, and Ryanne (pronounced Rye-Anne) Kelly. (I thought it was funny that Beth R. has a son named Dallas and liked Ryann for a girl). Both middle names are after family members. With Dalyce we new that was it no ifs ands or buts. My family did not like it because we are REDSKINS fans, but they do now. With Ryanne, I wanted to name her Kansa Renee. Keep the states/city names going. But again my family HATED it. So I gave in and found Ryanne which I love, but I still love Kansas too.
We had boy names picked out too. First it was Wallace Jackson (Wallace is my husbands first name) we would call him Jackson. The second was Wallace Brady. Brady is my grandmother's last name. Using last names has become very trendy now. That is something to think about. Maybe your maiden name (if it works, or your grandmothers) That is also where the Kelly came from in Ryanne's name.
Whatever you choose, it is YOUR choice. Go with what makes you feel very happy when you say the name. This is the hardest part of the pregnacy I feel. This is something your child has to live with for the rest of their lives.
Good luck to you and keep us posted on the name and when he arrives:)

My son's name is Jack Alexander. His first name is after my grandfather who passed away 3 years before Jack was born. His middle name was chosen by my husband who is a social studies teacher and wanted a historical name for our little boy.
Our daughter's name is Celia Faye. Her first name is after my late grandmother and her middle name is after my husband's late grandmother.
If we were to have another boy, which we're not planning on having any more kids, his name would either be Samuel Joseph or Andrew Clark.

I named my son after my father and my brother. Richard Dustin.
Are there any special men in your life you could possibly name your son after? I know in my family it made everyone feel special and my son loves knowing he was named after his poppop and uncle. Just a thought to consider.

How about Micah (I would pronounce it MIKE-A). I was going to use this for a boy or a girl if I had another baby, but I don't think I ever am. I have two sons, the oldest I named Cole James (C.J. but nobody is allowed to call him that) and the second I named Caden Daniel.....there are alot of Caden's, Jayden's ect....right now, I'd steer clear of those cause they are way too popular....I love the name Cole though

Hi,
I really like Devon. I would have named our child Devon Aloysius (she was a girl). Aloysius is unique, but not too out there since it's just a middle name. I also liked many of the other suggestions given. Some other favs: Nicholas, Brett, Jason (call him Jase), Jesse, Caleb, Lee, Ash (my husband's favorite character), Jamie, Asa, Declan. My all time fav you already used, Christopher. Hope this helps and Good Luck! A name means everything.

Why not look at family names or even ethnic names? We stuck with Irish and Scottish names and gave each child a middle name from a family member.
When choosing names for our children, my husband and I each made up a list of names we liked. We compared the lists and any names that did not appear on both lists were scratched. This really helped us narrow down the names.
Some suggestions I have would include:
Blaise, Eamonn, Tegan, Spencer, Quinn, Shane, Rowan, Ethan, Troy, Reece, Cameron, Gavin, Rory.
