I Need Answers from Moms with Children in Home Daycares

How would you feel if the In-Home daycare Provider expanded enough that she opened a Daycare center outside her home. Would you go there or would you look for another home?

If you were to go elsewhere, why?

I am asking these questions because I have a friend who wants to take her child out of the in-home daycare because the provider wants to move the daycare to a bigger home.

She needs advice

What can I do next?

I personally wouldn't take my son out, that just means more opportunity for my son as long as there is more than 1 childcare provider for safety reasons.

I hope this helps.

Depends on what other changes in routine and services that move entails. Would the person still provide meals in the same fashion (freshly cooked on-site or whatever they did in the current home)? Would the child - caretaker ratio remain the same? WHo are the other caretakers? I would want to meet with them and be explained their background, etc. Would there be more facilities (toys, playground, recreational activities, etc) provided at the new place? How far is the new place from the old? Are the rates going to be the same? Is this move in anticipation of opening an all out regular daycares? Are the care-takers goals to open a business or take care of my child the best that s/he can?

Those are some of the factors I would consider in my decision to move from a home-care.

Regards,
S

PS: Hope that meeting at La Mad. went well.

I think that if your friend and her child/children are comfortable with the provider and trust them, stay with them because it is VERY important that both are comfortable and have trust that the decisions the provider makes are in the best interest of the children and their families. If you went somewhere else it would be like starting all over again. I know that if me and my son were to move out of where we are at now, it would be very very difficult. Now, if the provider is just expanding its not going to change its just going to be a bigger place for the child, but the care stays the same. I hope this helps, Good Luck!!

I probably wouldn't move my child. It really would depend on how big the daycare center became, though.

Hope that helps.
