Hello moms,
This year is tight for Christmas with the economy, I'm out of work, my hubby is laid off. Fortunately before the bottom fell out I had already done most of my shopping. So we have a Wii gaming system as THE gift for the family. I was thinking it would be really fun to set up a scavenger hunt for the kids to find the Wii last. Can you give me some good suggestions for the questions/clues and where to's? Thanks!
The scavenger hunt was a hit!! Although my hubby has been laid off since Thanksgiving, and then he got called in to work on Christmas Eve! So this was the first Christmas without him in over 19 years! I had to be Santa. The Wii was not even wrapped and I didn't have strength. So on Christmas morning after they opened presents, I quickly came up with 4 clues for them to find, which led them to my closet and I had everything in a cardboard box with a bow. They opened that box and were so excited to get a Wii. And it's so much fun, we have been playing all weekend, our arms and backs are sore from the strenuous workout we're getting on Wii sports. Thanks for your suggestions. Have a blessed New Year!

We just had one at my company's work and it was all Christmas related items...3 strands of tinsel, a wreath cookie cutter, a turtle ornament, an ounce of egg nog, a turtle dove, the words to "Twas the Night Before Christmas", wrapping paper with a Snowman on it, etc. Good luck and wish you and your family many Blessings!

Not sure how old your kids are or how big your house is, but my mom used to do this for my brother all the time when he was younger. She would wrap a present with a note inside that said (ex. go look under your dresser). There would be another present under there with another note inside saying to go somewhere else in the house. Did that a couple times depending how old he was and what the present was. Sometimes the present would be in the final destination of where the previous note stated to go or it would be under the tree the whole time. He would have to come back into the room we were in and unwrap each one and read what it said before he could find the next clue.
Again, depending on the ages of your kids, my mom had me open the big present for my brother a few years ago to see his reaction knowing that it was for him.
Just a few ideas. Hope it all works out, let me know what you do if you don't mind.

Congrats on the coolest gaming system...EVER!
What if you maybe put a controller in each stocking, and wrap a game or two, but not the Wii box. Then your kids would finish unwrapping everything, only to see there isnt a Wii system under the tree. Your kids would be like 'what the heck?'...and you would play dumb. Then, at some point, someone would go to turn on the tv, and low and behold...there a Wii system is!! All hooked up and ready to go!!
just a thought! Have fun!

We got our Wii last year, and this is what we did...We had the Wii already hooked up to the TV (much more fun to play it right away than wait for silly parents to try to figure out how to set it up:)) We just put a book and a dog toy in front of it--they were too occupied with everything else to notice. We gave them a clue (I'm hiding where the extra sheets are). When they got there, there was another clue with candy canes stuck to it. We hid 5-6 clues throughout the house. The kids had a blast, because there were silly prizes attached to each clue (just stuff from the dollar store). The last clue had a Wii game attached to it. They just looked at each other. We let them wonder for a few minutes. They decided that they could take the Wii over to their cousins's house to play. We agreed that was a good idea, but perhaps it would be easier to play on our own system (then, we showed it to them). It was a riot and they loved the whole thing? Much more fun than just unwrapping it.
