Aquaphor!! 100% works great. Whenever my son has chapped lips, I put it on at night- they are much better by morning.
My 3 year old has very dry lips, this move to our new house has being a wonderful thing but has take a tool in some parts.
She drinks plenty of milk and some juice with water but no so good with plain water and haven't really push it much.
Also she "hates" lip balm, to the point of kicking and crying when I try.
I have to put it at night, which I forgot a few nights and others I woke her up and she wipe her lips forcely and kept crying =*(
The balm was a medicated one, so I am thinking maybe it sting her?
I need suggestions on a good fast one, she keeps licking her lips (which makes things worst) and they stared to crack.
Thanks
Natural oils, I didn't think about that.
I went to the stores and all the lip balms I saw had the peppermint, mint, or medicated and I have the feeling she is too sensitive for those now that she actually got 2 bleed, she tried to pull away the dead skin and end up with blood on her lips (ouchy!) so I am trying to avoid anything that could stink.

Whatever you use (we use Carmex) put it on her while she is in a deep sleep. This way, it will penetrate her lips over night and she won't even know that you're putting it on.
On a 3 yo. I think I'd just use coconut oil.
The healthfood stores sell smallish jars of it.
HTH!
plain old vaseline? olive oil? crisco? burt's bees makes nice ones too.
Good luck to you and yours

I second coconut oil. It's the only thing that doesn't sting my son's skin. It is supposed to be taste-less, but I've never eaten it to find out!
I sometimes don't like the feeling of the medicated ones...so I can imagine she probably doesn't like the cold/stinging feeling.
Why not try one that is not medicated, I personally like the cherry chapstick brand. Or perhaps you can take her to the chapstick aisle and let her pick out her own fun flavor. Even if its not medicated its better than her wanting to take it off.
My oldest daughter gets chapped lips a lot and I've never had a problem with her just using a regular non medicated one. It would heal in time, like all things. Some kids are just more prone to it I think. As my youngest hardly ever gets chapped lips.
Also, I would let her put it on herself. ~ With supervision of course.
try dabbing some olive oil on her lips.
(I personally use the Burts Bees kind. My 3 yr old son uses it as well. It is not "medicated" but is minty kind of. It has a lot of natural oils in it).
Weve always used carmex.
vaseline or aquaphor work best.
Pure Lanolin. If you breastfed you might even still have a tube of Lansinoh around.....
Try honey! It isn't really a balm, it will eventually dry up and get sticky but it will do wonders for the cracks and tender spots. Although I am all for natural remedies, and I can't stand brands like Carmex and Aquaphor because of the ingredients they use, I will also say that I haven't had the best experience with coconut oil. I feel like it dries up really fast and then my lips somehow feel more dry. I would prefer olive oil. As far as sticks go, I am a fan of Burts Bees. Best of luck!
Boudreaux (The Butt Paste people) make a product called Baby Kisses. I have used it for both of my kids for chapped lips and cheeks, and any dry skin. It works wonders and has no strong smell. My daughter calls it her "lipstick".
plain chapstick or vaseline.
any of the "ointments" like carmex, or the medicated lip balms like blistex are going to BURN BURN BURN.
My son was exactly like this. So I explained to him that we need to buy a lipbalm so his lips feel better (he would pick them and then bleed in addition to the area under being red and chapped). So he agreed and we went together and he picked a fruit flavored one (He picked Burt's Bees). He enjoyed turning it up and down and I then make it a part of the bedtime routine. He HATED the medicated/minty ones. Let her play a role and she may come around like my son did.
My son LOVES the EOS lip balms, he can just kiss it and get enough on his lips. The red one is what I suggest it's fruity smelling and tastes good - heck even my dog loves the scent goes after my lips each time I put it on. I have the light green too sweet mint.
I've had good luck with aquafor for my daughter. She also complains about the lip balm but the aquafor seems to do the trick.
My son can only use Blistex (it burns for a second, but then makes them numb), Carmex, Vaseline, & GAP tangerine.
Most chapsticks and balms aren't "slippery" enough, so trying to use them tears his lips.
For guaranteed no-burn; vaseline.
He has a love-hate relationship with blistex / carmex. LOVES how it numbs his lips, hates the initial burn. The GAP brand ones work great at keeping his lips from getting chapped to begin with, but are pretty useless after they're already chapped.
He chews and licks his lips a lot when his o2 levels get low (he has something similar to asthma), because they tingle... which chaps the bejeebers out of his lips.
Mamy:
My suggestion is not lip balm but the Mary Kay Night Time Emollient cream. It also comes in travel size tubes like lip balm and is WONDERFUL for dry skin!
You can purchase it on ebay or via a Mary Kay representative.
Vaseline or Aquafor and make sure to put it all the way around her mouth (think clown smile). My son has terribly dry lips and we lather him up with this twice a day and keep a chapstick at his school too!
