I Need a Styling Product That Doesn't Make My Hair Dry or Greasy!

Girls, I need a GOOD styling product to put in my wet hair, that doesn't a.) make my hair dry and brittle, and b.) doesn't make my hair oily, greasy, or weighed down. Everything I try seems like if it doesn't dry it out, it weighs it down, and vice versa! I have long relatively-think wavy hair. Thanks so much for your help.

What can I do next?

I have thick wavy hair. Try Moroccan Oil, it's a great hair product that doesn't make my hair greasy, oily or weighed down...just smooth, soft and no frizz. The difference between this product and some others I've tried is it's just oil based, not silicone which always made my hair greasy and oily after a day.

The bad part is it's not cheap, my hairdresser gave me a sample and I bought the travel size rather than a big bottle. I use a very small amount and it lasts a very long time.

*Also want to mention that I feel the need to wash my hair much less often with this product!

I use Frederic Fekkai's glossing cream. It's a LIFESAVER! Plus, a small tube lasts for about 4 months because you only need a small, pea-sized amount for your whole head. I have long hair and that is all I use.

If you're using a styling product and find that it's making your hair greasy, try using MUCH less. It might work fine.

I use Sleek and Shine from Garnier Fructeese. Just a little goes a long way. It makes my hair soft and shiny but it's weightless. I can't imagine a day without it. My hair would poof up and be like straw. I wear very little products because it makes it dirty and greasy looking, but this doesn't. ANd it's cheap. Like $4 a bottle. A lot of women I know with stubborn gray hair use it.

Try Infusium 23 leave in treatment. It doesn't make your hair oily/greasy or weigh it down. It takes away any freeziness and makes it a little crunchy, kinda like mousse unless you brush it. It also conditions your hair so when you wash it most likely you won't need to use conditioner. I LOVE it!! :)

The main thing is to keep the product off of your roots. The only thing I put on my roots is volumizing spray anything else I put from the middle to the ends. Also maybe try a leave in conditioner(cream or spray) for the dryness.

I like the glisten drops by MOP. for dry or wet hair. For dry hair, I like John Frieda's secret weapon styling cream, or the new suave professionals anti-frizz cream. I have long thick wavy hair, and have try every new product there is! but the best things I've done are switch to a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner by Loma, and use a natural bristle round brush with a professional hair dryer.

My hairstylist really likes all the Joico products. I use them and love them, but since I have very short hair I can also get away with using cheap stuff from the drugstore since I cut my hair every 4 weeks to about 2 inches long. However, I have found that if you use too much product, even of a great product, hair will seem weighted down or greasy. So start by using the tiniest amount and distribute it well throughout all your hair. I use the Joico mousse and only need the teeniest amount for my short hair. In a rush in the early morning I have put in too much at times and then my hair feels sticky during the day, although it stays in plays exactly where I put it!

I second the Moroccan Oil. It's the only thing I buy now. It isn't cheap, but you really don't need to use a lot. I have only been washing my hair 1-2 times a week for awhile now, and that also helps with the dryness. My best days are typically day 2 to 4.

I too was looking for a product like you described - and not spend a fortune. Try the new line by Dove. I love the regular conditioner but they also have an intensive conditioner that is great for splits and frizzes. I love the new Dove products. As a disclaimer - I have no connection with Dove, retailers,etc... Just a satisfied customer.

Try this no frizz. I have straight hair but still use this. I love it.
