ok i have a 2 1/2 year old boy and a 3mth old girl i'm looking at buying a used stroller but i don't know which kind would work better. i was think the one where they sit behind each other that way i could steer it and go through the asiles of the store but then i was thinking i would have better luck with my 2 year old if they were sitting side by side that way they could see each other. CAN YALL TELL ME WHAT YOU WOULD DO FROM EXPERIENCE???

What can I do next?

I have 2 year old twins. We have the double stroller where they sit one behind the other and it is great. Easy to use and noone can really touch each other and get in trouble.

B.,
I had a double stroller for my boys and loved it.We had the kind that is long (tandem?) I think is what it is called. I had a friend who had a side by side stroller and she said they hated it because it was so wide. She said big stores were ok but that in places like the shops in the mountains and the zoo it wouldn't fit in the isles. I hope this helps you. Any questions feel free to e-mail me. K.

Hi. I have a 3yr. old and a 2yr. old (15 months apart). I have a side by side double stroller made by Graco. I bought it at a second hand store for $50.00. It has been one of the best things I have ever bought since having kids. I use it all the time and both kids love it. It also has a huge basket underneath for storing your bags and anything else you might have. The kids really seem to enjoy being close to each other. I hope this helps. Have a good day!

I have one, my children are now 3 1/2 and 1. But I have a year old step son to. Mine has been great. But you really need to think to yourself, how much longer is gonna be willing to ride in it, versus walking with mommy or daddy. Either way you go, you need to decide that. Mine is about to be 4 and does not like riding anymore. Luckily, she still rides and we just use extra seat for diaper bag and purses etc, unless we have niece or nephew. So I love mine, but now Im just needing a simple stroller for her. They grow up fast, and expecially as a boy, he may not want to ride in it much longer. Id give him about 6months to a year before he will stop. But until then they are great, and after that it helps to have a spot to not have to carry everything.

From personal expeirence, the side by side is better for me. They can entertain each other and it allows me to get stuff done without having to stop a million times to get one of them to stop crying. The one seat behind would be a lot easier to get around but it is so worth having the side by side. I hope you find what you are looking for. God Bless!

I went through the same thing with my 2 - My kids are similar in age to yours. We opted for a front to back stroller. The side by side was to wide for us - we had seen people not be able to get it into places like the old restaurant at the zoo, into the department store doors at the mall... I really like how they look and fold up better than the front to back, but they didn't seem practical for us.

The front to back was ok for a while, but then became a pain b/c my older one wanted in and out all the time so we would have to stop and let her out. We just sold it. I now have a sit & Stand stroller. While the front seat doesn't completely recline, it does hold a car seat and the sit/stand part in the back has "seat belts" so I can keep my older one there when I seed to. It isn't as long as the traditional front to back stroller which I like and it certainly isn't as wide as a double.

Do some research online. I have a friends that has a Graco front to back - but the front seat is a chair and doesn't use the tray to keep the child in. It has a drink cup and snack cup on the sides. Had I seen that we probably would have bought it and then I wouldn't have had to purchase two.

Good luck!

I had the sit and stand stroller. It worked OK, but it was "heavy". Then add the kids and oh boy!! If I had to do it all over again (which I don't), I would probably go side by side.

We have a tandem stroller where our 3, almost four year old, can sit or stand behind our 14 month old son. One warning... shop with the kids. We bought one that was very difficult to push and after 2 months of barely using it, it broke. When we returned it, we chose a different sit n stand and LOVE it. Very lightweight and easy to push. My oldest can sit or stand or walk without hassles.

I use a Graco double stroller with the seats vertical. My oldest sits in front and my daughter sit in back. They love it and I love it. Surprisingly I don't use it alot, because most places I go have buggys. But when I do use it, it is easy to fit in tight spots in department stores.

I have had three different types of double strollers and I would say unless you can afford one of the super skinny side by sides (which I can't) definately go for the front and back kind. I had a front and back that you could turn the front seat around and I loved it (though it was a little bulky for my small trunk), until it got left in my garage and got messed up. I have a regular front and back now and my kids love it too(the back seat sits up a little higher than the front so they can see over each other). In the side by side, they were happy, but I wasn't because it would not fit ANYWHERE in most of the stores.

Wow! I'm just impressed that your son will sit in ANY stroller at this point! ;) I, too, have a 2 1/2 year old son, and a 10-month-old daughter. I bought a double stroller before my daughter was born (one of the ones that the seats are in front and behind one another ... that her car seat would fit in, too). That worked fine for us (I felt I could probably get in through stores, etc. better with that style) ... that is until my son decided he doesn't want to ride in ANY stroller EVER! ;)

He now walks with me everywhere (he thinks he's too big of a boy to be in a stroller ... that they're for babies)! ;) He started that a few months after he turned two! He's really good and stays with me, so now I'm back to using the single stroller from when he was a baby for my daughter.

I barely used my double stroller (just because of my son's growing independence!), but we liked the kind we bought. I've heard good things about the side-by-side ones, too (mainly because the kids can play and see each other ... although I'm sure that can be a battle sometimes, too)! ;)

Sorry ... know I wasn't much help! Hopefully someone else will have a real opinion one way or the other. Basically, we liked ours (front and back), and it worked well for a few months for us! ;) Good luck in finding what works best for your two kiddos! ;)

I have two double strollers...one where they sit next to each other and my 2.5 yr old constantly picks on my 1 yr old...causing many in the stroller screaming matches :)

I also have the Sit n Stand from nextstepahead It offers a great compromise so my two year old (who prefers to walk...can or he can jump on and ride)

Good Luck to you!

My son was 2 yrs old when my daughter was born. I had the kind where they sit behind each other. He sat in front and her carrier fit in the back. I think it was a Graco.
