D..
Sounds like why a lot of people come here to Mamapedia. Another reason to try to come and help. We ladies need to stick together to find that support. Thanks for this today, M.!

I was doing a search and came across 'defense mechanisms' . I learned of one that I use and didn't know it..that gets me in trouble, maybe because of how I do it is-
Affiliation:
The individual deals with emotional conflict or internal or external stressors by turning to others for help or support. This involves sharing problems with others but does not imply trying to make someone else responsible for them.
Has anyone else learned something interesting today?
Judy - Definitely worth sharing!
I am the same way Just M, something good something bad I have to talk, vent, complain etc etc.. I am forever being told I 'tell my business' or 'talk too much' .. That is what gets me in trouble.. I just dont get how your supposed to learn anything from other peoples if you don't talk!
Defense mechanisms are not bad. They range from primitive (childish?) to Mature. I like to read can ya'll tell? LOL

This is not today's lesson for me but it is worth sharing.
A mammogram does not work for all people. I had a lump.
A mammogram did not show any concerns. Later, I
learn that cancer looks white on a mammogram. Dense
breast tissue is also white. It's like looking for a white polar
bear on a snowing white mountainside. Lesson learned:
next mammogram you get, ask if your breast tissue is dense.
If it is, there is ultrasound and another test they can do.
Please ask.
By the way, I am cancer free for over 2 years, looking forward to
the Big Five.
A link regarding a new law that requires health care providers to to notify their patients with dense breast tissue that their mammogram may be less accurate than that of women with lower breast density. The law’s intent is to make women with dense breast tissue aware that, in addition to their annual mammogram, they may benefit from “supplemental screening” such as breast ultrasound or MRI, especially if the woman has additional risk factors for breast cancer.

For more info, IM me.
I, like many, would have benefitted from this knowledge.
LOL, I stopped to get gas today and actually LOOKED down at the pump thing to see how people get it to stay on, I had never known how but someone posted about it a few months ago here on mamapedia and explained it. So now if i wanted to i could do it.
Guess my learned something new isn't as deep as yours but i was tickled!
ugh I do this and it makes some people upset. When soemthings on my mind I tend to share it with everyone in my life.
aww, so , we are all each others affiliation. I just learned that! Thanks.
Well gee, that is why we all come here to MamaPedia.
Venting.
I have done a lot of that lately.
Need to.
I guess all women are affiliators then? LOL Isn't affilliating good?
Ok, now I feel really bad.
I know people that, in my humble opinion, tell me WAY too much. So much so that sometimes I just can't bear all their problems in addtion to my own and it makes me insane! I think they have no idea (or don't consider the idea) that I have things to vent about too. They dump so much on me that I can't get a word in edgewise. I usually walk away with double the emotional baggage I had before I saw them.
I had no idea that there was an official word for it tho. I think I'll give it a try for myself next time I see them!
