Get as much sleep as you can, stay well-hydrated, eat small protein rich snacks/meals through the day, take a walk. These are the best things you can do for you and the baby!
Hello A.,
I used to get really tired for the first 3 months. To be honest, Iwould not do anything to stay awake except possibly find a high quality tea and drink it..I'd stay away from coffee too..AND Mountain Thunder or Awaken tea as they are high octane. The reason I say this is that EVERYTHING crosses intothe baby and babies don't need any of this stuff in the course of their development..out science is so limited as to what they know about the effects of such things on babies development.
So please just bear with it, I was in the military and worked often 16 hour days with two of my pregnancies, and your no stranger to pregnancy either ..so please consider this.

This is very normal actually. I am 26 weeks with baby 3 and being so tired is possibly the hardest part on me! I was also tired with my other two but I think since I now have 2 active toddlers its harder this time around! LOL Also all I take are my bitamins I don't think anything is really safe that keeps you awake. I personally even pretty much cut caffeine but thats an option if you want.
You need to get on some good prenatal vitamins right away.
Your body is undergoing tremendous changes and is probably
lacking something, thus the sleepiness. I know a lot of women who take the Vitality Prenatal Pak and love the energy they have. It's very reasonably priced at $19.99 but you have to be a member to buy at that price. I work with the company and the membership is only $1 this month (Dec.) and they also give new customers $100 in free products. If you have an interest you can email me. Good luck on the pregnancy and congratulations!

First of all you have to keep your body well fueled... snack on some protein lots during the day. Nuts, cheese cubes, cold chicken cubes, peanut butter w/ crackers. You also help to avoid morning sickness that way (which usually starts at 6 weeks). The prenatal vitamins will help too, making sure you are getting enough iron. (add some dark leafy greens to your dinner). You can also take an additional B6 vitamin. That will help boost your energy. Oh, lastly, keep yourself hydrated!! Water is really your best source!

Hi A....I just recently joined as I've worked with kids most of my life and have been a nanny for the past 20 years. I am also a wellness coach with some fabulous health products that could give you great energy. Good nutrition is the most important part of growing a baby, I'm sure you know that. I have a product that has marine phytoplankton in it called FrequenSea that gives me great energy all through the day. Go to my website and watch the videos and see what you think. www.M..provibranthealth.com.

Hello A.,
I felt your pain. I found that it last a few weeks into my pregnancy and got better. I took walks and got fresh air. That seem to help! Hang there! Congratulations!!!!!
Naps! They do wonders, even if you can't sleep, just the rest helps. The vitamins are great, too. Especially with iron. I was good my first pregnancy. Now I'm on # three and I have to admit to using caffiene a lot more than I wish I did. My oldest doesn't nap anymore though. Congratulations! You're in for the best experience of you life over the next few years!
My first thought is to ask you about your diet. If you are eating frozen foods, fast foods or going out to eat a lot I say try cutting back on these things. The best way to build energy is to add fresh fruits and vegetables and protein to your diet. Protein can come in many forms. For you I suggest beans, kale, lentils, fish, eggs and chicken for protein. If you are craving red meat, then eat it when you are craving it. Your body usually knows what's right unless you are eating for comfort. Comfort foods usually have lots of unhealthy fats with little nutritional value. Ask yourself, why am I eating this? Is it to support my health and my baby's?
Now, I am not a medical doctor, and I used to work with mothers and children through health services like WIC. I am not licensed in anyway to give you advice. With that said, I can tell you what has worked for me.
1. Sleep as much as you can. Is there some quiet activity/game/book your kids can do while your right next to them napping on the couch? Short power naps got me through.
2. Be aware that many of the prenatal vitamins doctors prescribe are not as healthy as they seem. I have been into all natural vitamins, supplements for a while and I can tell you they put all kinds of stuff in there that is unnecessary and the synthetic "vitamins" loose much of their nutritional value in the process of being made.
I did the following instead of prenatals and my energy TRIPLED in a matter of a week:
#1
blue green algae - 1 TBS per day
http://www.ancientsunnutrition.com/c=0DiSZcryFVjS5mZza7QW...
#2
EFA oil blend - helps with developing nervous systems - 3 TBS per day
http://www.ihealthtree.com/total-efa-veggie-oil-16oz-heal...
#3
powder supplement - 1 TBS per day
http://www.ihealthtree.com/greens-today-original-powder-1...
I would blend all of these into a smoothie with some organic rice milk and a banana or some organic strawberries (non organic strawberries have a LOT of pesticide residues) and drink them.
Lots of fresh ORGANIC produce
Lots of fermented and live foods including yogurt, kefir, pickles etc..
Cut out all caffeine and refined sugar if possible.
And these are the things that allowed me to keep working up until right before I had my son. Good luck!
PS, they are also great to drink every day when you are not pregnant too!! Great for kids and husbands who need extra nutrition. Get the whole family involved! My family still drinks it almost everyday. My son hasn't been to the doctor since he was 4. He is 9 now.
Prenatal vitamins... Then maybe a caffiene free XS. XS is an energy drink that is mostly vitamins - no sugar - no carbs. Served as a good pick me up for Heidi when she was pregnant.
Cat naps, bed whenever humanly possible, being winter, a good brisk walk will probably wake up right up, but I would definitely recommend sleeping as much as you can in order to stay awake when you cant sleep. And, congragulations! :D

Hi A.,
Congratulations! I took my vitamins, walked, and drank plenty of water. Anyting outside of that, I would check with the doc.
Best of luck.
Your body is doing A LOT of work... like, growing a new baby! Listen to your body and nap every chance you get. Eating good healthy "real" foods will also help give your body extra energy to do it's job.
Have the Dr. check your thyroid, and other blood work.
Hi A.,
I just had my baby on the first. I was always tired when i was preggers and when i went to the doctor i told them about always being tired and they tested my blood. They found out that i had anemia which made me feel tired so they had me take iron pills and vitamin B12. After that i felt much better and i had more energy to get me through the day. So.....don't forget to mention to your doctor how your feeling. Congats on the baby!!
