I was told to use vinegar. I put some in a spray bottle once you are bitten just spray it on the bite.
so, fourth of july we were outside doing our own small fireworks, and i was eaten alive by mosquitos...i have approx 20 bites on my back and arms...they itch sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad.....i have all the Calamine, benadryl, cortisone etc creams....i was wondering if anyone knew of any home rememdies?? or something I could put in the bath to help the itching...it has to be a common household item though cause i dont have a car tonight....help please!!!
***how do i do the oatmeal? is it applied on the bite, or do i put some quick oats in the bath?? sorry if i sound silly, i've just never heard that one!
WOW, thanks for all the great advice!!! my mom had told me her grandma would put clear nail polish on the bites...i tried that last night and it worked for about an hour or two, then i woke up from a dead sleep just scratching like crazy. i took 2 benadryl last night, helped some...i think i'm gonna try everything on here!!!

Calcium. Drink more milk and eat more bananas. I once had a very bad reaction to some meds and back then I was given a calcium suplement. I used that together with a topical cream and the itching was almost gone with an hour.
oatmeal is good for itches , also take some benedry med if you have it.
put it in your bath. plain non flavored , unless you want to smell like brownsugar and cinnamon ;)
Try the toothpaste.
When you are outside like that I would recommend that you get Avon skin so soft with bugguard plus. It works great. That is what I used on the 4th. You can also try to use a bounce dryer sheet. Just rub it on your body. Something in the dryer sheet they hate. You could also put the sheet in the waist band of your shorts. I do it all the time when I don't have any skin so soft. Just a thought for the next time you go out. I also use alchol to stop the itching. And not the booze type. LOL!
Oatmeal is great and so is Tea Tree Oil. Also, we used to put rubbing alcohol on them when we were kids - something about the cooling as it evaporated made them itch less.
Have you tried taking liquid Benadryl? My 8yo's mosquito bites swell up really bad. Once he was bitten just below his eyebrow, and the next morning it was so swollen, he couldn't open his eye. The Pedi told me to give him liquid Benadryl- it did seem to help him.
Good luck :)
Toothpaste w/baking soda. Or a baking soda paste. Honey is a good topical ointment for burns. I also heard a slice of raw potato has soothing juices. Mustard can also be a good salve. So you could try that depending how desperate you are.
I heard putting a bit of toothpaste on it helps.
I second the tea tree oil. Not only takes away the itch, it makes them heal faster too.
You could try baking soda. I think it's about 3 teaspoons soda mixed with 1 teaspoon water till it makes a paste. You may need to apply more than once. Worth a try!
Regular toothpaste works wonders, just put it on and the itch just goes away!
Works for me, hope it works for you!!
My mom always put a little bit of clorox in our bathwater when we had chiggers or mosquito bites. Always worked for us.
The baking soda and water paste works good for bee stings.
