I Feel like a Teenager Again

It may seem really ridiculous to be asking for advice for this but it is driving me crazy! The past few months I have been having really bad break outs of acne. I am 38 years old and feel like I am 15 again. I am still nursing my 2 year old and thought maybe it is a hormone issue or possibly related to an increase in stress (I open my daycare next week). The acne is painful and it makes me feel aweful, like I did when I got them as a teenager. I thought it coincided with my period, but now it seems like I am getting new ones every few weeks. Has anyone else experienced this or have some insight.

What can I do next?

Hi J.,

I feel your frustration. I am 37 and I too have been getting acne. I didn't even get acne as a teen but am now. I would say for the last year. I did go off my birth control so thought it could be because that (hormones). I did ask my doctor about it and she said it could be that but pre-menopausal women do go through that (the acne). Mine isn't horendous but just like you I feel like I'm a teen and it bothers me. I hope it stops soon. Proactiv does help a bit though.

Hey J.!
Oh yeah..blame it on good ol hormones..I also broke out everywhere after my girls were born and also nursed for 15 months each. The only thing that cleared it up was Proactiv skin care...yes it really does work! My skin started looking better right away and is safe while nursing.Lots of H2o also!
You can find it online or even at the Mall..the 3 step kit should do the trick, it's about 40$-you'll love it!

Best of luck with your new daycare!

I too suffered through an acne issue after I had my 4th child. It went on for two years. I spent alot of money with an esthetician - having many different treatments. I also got prescription creams from my doctor. Nothing helped. Then about two months ago I was put on an antibiotic for a kidney infection. My acne went away and I have not had a single blemish since. So my acne was obviuosly being caused by a bacterial infection. I don't know if this is the cause for you, but if topical treatments are not working, you might want to ask your doctor. Hope this helps.

It could be the stress that your under with opening the daycare. Have you started to use any new products or changed our eating habits?
What's an organic home daycare?
I know how it is to feel awkward i break out sometimes with acne(usually a reaction to food or soemthing in the enviroment) and I get chapped lips a lot and I feel like it's all people see when they look at me.
