I Don't Want to Leave My Son in the Nursery......

I used to attend a local church until they became very money hungry, judgy and just basically forgot why we were there every Sunday. I stopped attending and haven't been able to find a new place of worship. Going to church is something I wasn't raised with but I would like for my son to be able to have that choice. Does anyone know of any churches in the Carmichael area that would allow my son to come in with me (instead of insisting that he go into the nursery/childcare center). I would be willing to go out to Roseville as well - some people have recommended Bayside - does anyone have any thoughts?

What can I do next?

I have heard fabulous things about Bayside, although I dont attend. I go to The River in North Natomas. It is in the Inderkum High School. We have a great childcare/kids worship program and most people choose to have their child attend the program. There is a nursery ( 0-2), 2-3year, 3-4year and so forth. Leave it to the Lord, he will direct your path...

Hey H. - I happened to be in this "religious" section looking something up and noticed your question. You may have already found something, and if so, terriffic! If, however, you're still checking out churches out around town, my father-in-law is the pastor at Living Hope Community Church on Dewey Drive between Winding Way and Madison. I know they welcome children in the main sanctuary, but also have a kids play room and sunday school for those who prefer that. They meet on Sunday morning at 10:30.
I host a play group (not a religous group) at the church each Wednesday at 11am, incase you're interested in getting together with other moms with babies/toddlers. They have a good indoor play room and putdoor playground for us to use - we all have a great time.
If you want more info. about either, send me a message!

Bayside is wonderful, and so is Adventure Christian in Roseville. You have the option of using the nursery/childcare if you want to be able to focus on the service and get a little break, but by no means are the children not welcome in the main auditorium. It is totally up to the family whether to use the children's program or not. I found that once my son was around 3, he got a lot more out of the children's program than the main service (they teach them Bible lessons on an age-appropriate level). He liked to play, run around, not have to be quiet, etc. and he was bored in the main service once the worship and singing was over. What I would often do is bring him in with us for the beginning of services and the worship, then if he started to get bored or restless, take him over to the children's program. Adventure has separate classes/rooms based on age, so infants are in their own room, toddlers in another, two year olds, three year olds, etc. all the way up through high school, but it is NOT mandatory, it's for the benefit of the families and kids that choose to make use of it. Best wishes finding a church home :)

Hi H.,
We go to Divine Savior in Orangevale, and have been having our children sit through mass since they were born. It has never been a problem and the main priest there loves the kids. If one of my children really starts acting up, then I will bring them out to the atrium until I can get them to calm down, but that happens maybe once every few months and we generally go every week. We always go to the same mass and have really gotten to know the people that sit around us and they are very tolerant of our children and love to see them week to week. (One older couple has even brought my children gifts because she saw something she thought they would enjoy). It has been a really positive experience for all of us (and my husband wasn't exactly enthusiastic about going to church every week when we started). We are not the only ones their with small children either, there are lots of families that bring their kids to the service.
