Raising my GD. I really did not want to raise another kid - I was more than happy to be grandma. Now that I've been her guardian for just over five years, hubby and I are extremely happy she's with us!
Yes my son moved in with me to help me out while I am healing from a spinal cord injury...and yes...he is a policeman....and yes...he was offered a promotion to be a dog handler for a narcotics canine.....and no....I didn't want another dog.....and YES...Max is here and he is wonderful and listens so well. So my question is....what did you ever give in to....that you were really dead set against? Having a good day here with my 6day of steriods!

Taking a two week vacation in Germany. I thought it would be boring and the food even more boring. (Sorry, no offense--just ignorance). Of all the trips I've taken, the people of southwest Germany have been the friendliest people I've ever met.
Yay, Max! Yay, you! (Now you've got a new grandson!)
Who's a goooood booooy????!!!!
Getting married and then having kids.
I remember your question! I'm really glad you saw what a great opportunity this was for your son. Glad it's working out well

Cats! I have been a dog person and have always had a dog my whole life. So when my then 5 year old asked for a cat, I really didn't want one! My hubby always had cats growing up. We have a dog and we told our daughter that if she did something for a month(can't think of what), she could get a kitten. Well, we now have 2 and I love them both very much! Cats are freaking hilarious! We got Gus and after 6 months of him waking me up to play at 4 am, we went and got Boo...who I had to take home after the shelter told me someone put her and her bros & sisters in a bag behind a grocery store & she was the only one who didn't get hit by a car(what is wrong with people?). They are very entertaining!
Letting my daughter go live with her dad. I 100% thought that she was better off with me than him...boy, was I wrong! I love her to pieces, in small doses. She's a handful....thank God she lives with him and not me!
Yeah! C.! Good for you Sister!
getting married : )
I am glad this worked out well for all of you.
Just wanted to say I'm happy to read that Max is now part of your family! You did the right thing. Congrats to you and your son!
I kinda let my husband tear out a wall in the kitchen, that I was against. I told him whatever it looked like when I got home from the grocery store was the way I would live with it. He got his way, and I love the way it turned out and would have been disappointed had it been my way.
I can't think of anything at this particular moment---just got in from Easter travels... but I am SO happy for you AND your son! Way to go, C.!
That is fantastic!
Congratulations to you and your son!
shark feeding dive in Vanuatu. i was scared! turned out to be one of the best dives ever. now I'm Shark Girl!
Oh, I'm so, so glad!
To your question, I don't think your situation applies to me exactly, since my son is much younger, but I have found that the choices that seemed sensible and logical (big obstetrics practice near where I live, affordable co-op preschool) turned out to be disasters and the ridiculous, expensive, inconvenient choices (midwife 1.5 hrs away, Montessori preschool that just about drove us to bankruptcy) turned out to be lifesavers. I'm still trying to figure out what that proves.
Whoo Hoo! Go Max! Go C.!
I haven't given in yet, but my daughter keeps nagging me about getting her belly button pierced. I thought her dad was on the same page with it, but he told her he would rather her get her belly button pierced than her nose. I haven't completely broken down yet, but I just wonder if it is a battle that is not worth fighting.
Yea C., I don't know how I missed this. I'm so glad it is working out well. I had a feeling he would be a great dog!!
