Roughly how much does it cost to put tubes in babies ears?
My insurance will only cover so much. So I kinda wanted to have an idea of what I am looking at.
Any one have the anediods (S/P?) removed too? how much was that?
thank you

What can I do next?

If I knew then what I know now - this is what I would have done:

Find out what my kid was allergic to, why they are getting inflammation. For my daughter, eggs, soy, wheat/gluten, dairy/casein, yeast. All of these are found in vaccines as well so we stopped all shots at 18 months because we knew about the egg, soy, corn allergies at that time.

Chiropractic - a must! Find one that likes kids and works with them. We LOVE our Dr. Jeff Schones at the triangle of Broadway and NB Blvd.

We found out about the food and environmental allergies by doing the skin pricking test (hate this one) and a blood test later when she was 10 (IgG).

Then if you need to still do the tubes, call your insurance company. Every plan is different. Ours was covered except for a copay.

I think it's 1700 to 2800 depending on the location, doctor, etc. I heard the tubes stay in for a couple years and typically fall out on their own.
Anedoids are so widely ranged in price it's hard to tell, it can be $2,000 or $10,000... it's so widely varied depending on the hospital. Just ask your doctor what price your looking at, my doctor always told me or if he didn't know would give me the surgery code and I'd call my insurance company and ask how much it was based on the code number.

Before surgery, have you tried chiropractic? Out of around 15 kids I've known, only one still needed tubes after a month or two of treatment! My kids have been adjusted since birth, it's very safe and effective. Please call and see what they can do for you!

The adenoids are part of the immune system. They are overtaxed. Taking them out will not get to the root of the problem. Definitely see a chiropractor first. Babies do indeed need adjustments. They are very gentle. I can recommend a great one in Long Beach just north of Seal Beach and also one in LA on San Vicente.
Testing for food allergies should be your next move.

We have 80/20 insurance with a $250 deductible. We'd already met the deductible because of so many freaking ear infections.

The doctor bill was around $400 and the hospital bill was around $500.

You'll need to call the ENT who's performing the procedure to find out their expenses, the expenses of the facility that the surgery will take place at, and the anesthesiologist's costs.

Because everyone's insurance plans are slightly different, it's impossible to know how much you'll pay out of pocket because of deductibles, negotiated coverage by the insurance company. You may also find that the expenses are different if you go with a different ENT.

Physicians often negotiate a rate of pay differently with different insurers, so there's really no way to know for sure.

Good luck!

I'm sure it depends on each hospital, Dr, or coast in my case. My son's bill came to $3,500. this included operating room, Anesthesiologist, ENT, and all the other ingredients per say. I think we may have got a deal because he was uninsured so some people gave us some breaks on their usual charges.

My son had tubes put in and adenoids removed. The insurance we had only covered $1000. Between the Dr., the surgery center where it was done and the anesthesiologist, the balance that we had to pay was about $7000-8000. We had to have $2500 up front before they would do the surgery and worked out payment plans for the rest. In the end, I think our Dr. wrote off part of his charge because after a year of paying our balance magically went down by about $1000 from one bill to the next. See if you can talk to your Dr. about payment options.

We paid $25 per specialist visit then a $250 copay (20%) of the total bill.

Have your doctor submit a "predetermination" to your insurance company. Then you will know exactly what the doctor charges, what the insurance company will pay, and how much you will need to pay out-of--pocket.

Seeing the ENT cost me $20 a visit (co-payment) and I'm not sure what the actual bill was for the procedure, but I do remember paying $700 out of pocket for the ear tubes and we had United Healthcare. This was about 2 years ago and my son was about 1 1/2 years old at that time. He hasn't had an ear infection since and 1 of the ear tubes just recently came out.
