My 9 yo dd has always struggled with certain issues, and we have tried several things and they just don't seem to be working. We are at the point that we want to take her and get some tests run. Everyone I know says that she is possibly "OCD,SID,ADD" The school ran a Connors test and said she should have some further testing. I am looking for someone dependable, patient and very kind (she is very sensitive) to take her too.
Thank you.

Dr. Dante Burgous (sp?) of the Holiner group and his staff are awesome. Madooka Lightfoot is wonderful with children and she is one of his assistants that is highly qualified as well. You will find that a lot of doctors only see the child initially and for testing etc. and then on a 6 month or so rotation to check in on progress etc. The specialized nurses/physcian assistants handle med checks in between. That is why I am so impressed with Ms. Lightfoot.she is so good with children. Their practice is for out of Medical City however the Dr. will be moving his practice or maybe has already to Mckinney as he will be operating the Mckinney location for Holiner Group.
Before you go further with this course, please get and read the book, The Gut and Psychology Syndrome. You will have to order it on the Internet. I am a neurodevelopmental specialist, and it is my opinion that 50%-ish of the children with these symptoms can be completely cured by diet ALONE.
You manufacture over 50% over your neurotransmitters in your digestive system. In the professions dealing with neurological issues, the gut is considered the "second brain."
I am no saying your child doesn't need further help, but am imploring you to consider nutrition first. At the very least, it will make improvements for her. At the most, it may resolve her issues completely. I've seen it happen many, many time.
Just be very careful we have seen about 4 or 5 different Psychiatrist with 2 of my boys. I have 1 with OCD and hyperactive, 1 of my boys is ADHD with OCD traits! I really liked the 1st guy we saw in Richardson but I can't remember his name.
Long and short of it is that I have found that a ped. Neurologist has been the best to pin point how to help us the most.
Dr. G. So out of Plano
In May, our doctor recommended, Brandi Miller. We took our 11 year old son to her for evaluation. She was very thorough and at the end of several 2 to 2.5 hour sessions, we received a detailed analysis of her findings. These are the tests and interviews she did based on a question of ADHD.
Children’s Depression Inventory
Children’s Sentence Completion Form
Conners’ Parent Rating Scale – Revised: Long Version – (CPRS-R:L)
Conners’ Teacher Rating Scale - Revised: Long Version (CTRS-R:L)
Conners’ Continuous Performance Test – II (CPT-II)
Diagnostic Interview and History
Millon Pre-Adolescent Clinical Inventory (M-PACI)
Multidimensional Anxiety Scale for Children (MASC)
Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – 2nd Ed. (WIAT-II)
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – 4th Ed. (WISC-IV)
Ultimately she recommended medication and referred us to series of leadership skills group sessions with another doctor, Donna Peddy. Our son is now thriving and the improvements are just amazing.

I highly recommend Twila Meyer at Successful Learning Strategies. She is located in the Park Cities and her # is ###-###-####. A.
THere is an educational consultant named Katherine Lunde out of Frisco. SHe has worked with all kinds of kids and is excellent for giving out referals. She has worked in the area for over 20 years with all schools and all spectrum diorders. She was able to help my younger son get special help with prism reading glasses form a neuro opthamologist, got into sensory integration therapy and tutor kids in a non-uniform way in which they learn. He has improved so much in the last 6 weeks since we started that we are no longer worried if he will do well in second grade, but also wondering if he may go on to talented and gifted this year. She will lobby for your child at school too if need be. Good luck, MIriam PS I too agree you have to take control of the diet and you may want to try www.interactivemetronome.com THey can improve attention so that the typical ADD kid improves 1.5 grade levels in both math and reading in about 15 treatment sessions, which means that in under a month your child could have that much improvement. I was an ADD with SID but no one knew that til the last ten years, child and on Ritalin and Cylert, and Addrall until about 5 years ago when I said this is ridiculous. I have done the interactivemetronome and seen such improvement in myself and my other son that I got trained and bought two machines so I can help other like myself. Since changing my diet and doing the IM I have even gone on to have another child and am not so nearly overwhelmed with three kids as I was with two. I'm 38 and thrilled to share my story hope it helps.
Best place to start is Our Childrens House Baylor. they do testing and can help you find Therapy. there are several locations just call to find out which location would fit your situation best.

Hi J., my name is H.. Please consider a lady by the name of Honey Scheff, she's excellent and exactly what you are looking for and would need. She has been in my ex, myself, my daughter, and my daughters now step-mothers lives. She has helped us thru quite a bit over the past few years when needed, and I would recommend her to many. My daughter go thru lil things every now and then when she's going back in forth from Dads to Moms and when we see she's having a moment with all of that emotionally she has had sessions with Honey and it always have worked out. She is great with her. My daughter is 9 as well. But, good luck and look into her. Take care.
J.,
Please taKe a looK at his diet. Chemicals, food additive, dyes, and sugar cause various behavirol issues. And I Know label reading can be difficult at times. But what I do is if the label has a list of 10 to 20 different ingredients, it is probably toxic. when you looK at labels sometimes the actual food is not even in the end product, it is just toxic chemicals that cause various things to happen in different people. ANd if you have already looKed at the nutrtional side of it you may want to checK for heavy metals/parasites. If you would liKe further information on this testing I Know someone who is awesome!

VERY strong in ADD and Strong Willed Children
My daughter is 9 also and was diagnosed with ADD and anxiety disorders. She is also very sensitive and emotional but was very accepting to both the doctor and clinician that we went to for her testing. The doctor we used is in Plano, his name is Dr. Gray Atkins and his practice is called Neurotheraphy Center of Plano. They specialize in natural, non medicating therapies. We have found that with changing her diet, eliminated sugar, red dyes, perservatives and adding a daily natural vitamin and an omega supplement, that it has made a huge difference. If you have any other questions, please send me a message.
Girls to Women is a great place! They are pediatricians and have counselors and psychiatrists in the office and for referral. Obviously, they specialize in girls and the sometimes stressful changes to women. They offer all kinds of groups. Kinda like Mamsource for girls! It has been great for my daughter, I only wish I had found them sooner. Here is their website go there and take a look at what they offer. P.S. I don't work there though it sounds like maybe I should! http://www.gtw-health.com/
