I Am Appearently Paying Too Much for Daycare??

My little one, (18 months) is with a WONDERFUL daycare provider in Lakeville. She's amazing with the kids. Some weeks my child is there part time- and I still pay the full time rate, (which I HATE- but it's the norm- so I don't fight it.) :)

I believe it's $175.00 weekly.

Is this about the norm? (I heard from seperate people that it was 'super high.') -I remembered paying more someplace else.

Can I be tacky and ask what others are paying?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I figured it was about right. (As I said, she's wonderful- so I'd never switch even if she was expensive.)

Thanks!

I don't know about Lakeville, but in the cities that is not too high. In home ranges from $150 - $200 a week for full time and if your child is there part time some weeks but full time others they have to charge the full time rate as they can not allow another child to come as they don't have a set schedule of when your child will not be there. Not all daycare providers are WONDERFUL, so I would be thankful that you have one so great and centers are much more.

You may be paying more for part time care. I have had the hardest time trying to find someone that will only take my son part time. We now pay a daily rate of $38/day and he goes three days.
Most likely she has set rates for each parent and some parents might be paying the same rate as you.
Consider what your child is doing with her, arts/crafts, eating 2 meals and a snack, do they go on field trips, does she have a helper/aid, pre-school circ, etc. when I thought about this, it helped me realize just what I was paying for. I paid more at a different daycare for my son to just have free play all day, no arts/crafts or pre-school circ., now he will get all of it.
You could ask the others or even the provider but I doubt anyone will tell you what they pay unless you have a close connection with them. You could talk with your provider and ask her if you could work a payment plan that works with your budget, she may be flexible about it, and may not want to potentially lose a child over cost. Good luck!

I worked at a inhome daycare in Minnetonka nothing fancy and that was pretty typical for what she charged. Although she also charged part time, hourly, or daily rates if you weren't full time.

I've heard of people paying around 150 - 200 a week for in home care. I say if you can afford it and the place is wonderful, don't sweat it. Wonderful help is extremely hard to find (my DD is a 2 y.o. and has been in many daycare centers. This most recent is by far the best but I pay the exorbitant 280 / week fee b/c they are wonderful with DD)
