Hysterectomy

I am to undergo a full hysterectomy at the beginning of Dec. Back in 2000 I was diagnosed with stage 5 endo. After years of unsuccessfully getting pregnant my husband and I adopted our daughter. Then last year we adopted our son. I have exhausted ALL options for my problems including drugs and 2 surgeries. The doctor will put me on HRT but I was wondering if anyone could suggest an herbal solution instead. Thanks

So What Happened?

Hi to all. I came home yesterday from the hospital after having my hysterectomy on Tuesday the 11th. I am feeling remarkably good. Tired and sore but so happy to be home. I was kept an extra day due to excessive blood loss during the surgery. I am now suffering from anemia but I am taking iron pills to rectify that problem. The doctor is very pleased with everything. She said that all of my reproductive organs were completely twisted around one another along with being covered with endo. She is amazed that I was able to live with the pain and excessive bleeding that I did for so long. I went with an epidural instead of heavy duty anesthetics because I have a terrible reaction to the anesthesia. I am glad that I had the epidural because the pain after the surgery was much less. My doctor is going to wait a few weeks to put me on any type of HRT. She is going to start me off on the patch and then I can decide what I want to use. I want to thank everyone for all of their input, guidance and good thoughts. I am very glad that I made this decision to do this.

the biggest reason to start HRT therapy is to prevent bone loss and you can do that by making sure you take adequate amount of calcium daily and continue to do wgt bearing exercise, also for vaginal dryness and hot flashes if they are unbearable. None of the supplements you see advertised have been proven to work such as yams, black cohosh etc. It seems the biggest problem is not sleeping because of hot flashes or night sweats so what i do is sleep with t-shirts and a towel on the bed and just change my shirt and put the towel on the wet spot, because if i get out of bed i'll wake up to much and won't be able to get back to sleep hope this helps

Hi L., I am 27 yrs old mother of two ages 8 and 4 I had a full hysterectomy this past April. I don't have any herbal solutions but I am taking the vivelle dot - it's a patch that goes on my side very small and works wonderful.. I have felt like a totally new person since the surgery, I feel great everyday!!!!! Good luck! I would also recommend having your surgeon give you the novacaine directly in the incision for at least two days, mine was removed the first day and it was horrible pain.. Hopefully you will be getting the laser surgery, I wasn't that fortunate, I had a binki cut and it was excaustating pain.

I would like to recommend a products from Sunrider, Int. They have herb food concentrates that feed and nurish your whole body so that your body can B. more in balance and in turn, your body benifits in many ways. Here is just one product: http://shop.sunrider.com/Shop/Product_51.asp?dept_id=6&am...
It's called Bella. I also recommend Beauty Pearl. If this link above doesn't work, then just visit sunrider.com to read more about it. Or contact me or someone you know that consumes it to learn more.

Look for a compounding pharmacist. They can make a cream that is more like natural hormones with fewer side effects.

I have a friend who has been trying to get pregnant for about 2 years - unsuccessfully. She read about a place called Clinical Apothecaries in Medina, Ohio. They are an herbal pharmacy. They said they WOULD have her pregnant in 2-3 months, where the infertility specialist said they would TRY to get her pregnant. It is worth looking into. Here is their website http://www.cairx.com/
Good luck.

Hi L.,
I so feel for what you've endured. If you haven't explored healthy options to cure endo by having a certain type of blood testing (which I can share with you) then you haven't exhausted every option. I know of testimonials very similar to your situation, but they had a complete turn-around with proper nutrition. Please feel free to contact me offsite at ____@____.com.

i used HRT for a while but stopped eventually because of my worrying about its side effects. I still have terrible hot flashes and chills and other 'funny and weird' symptons five and a half years after the surgery. I dont' mean to scare you, in fact everyone reacts differently to the lack of estrogen in the body. My sister underwent it very successfully without any obvious symptoms but hers was a natural menopause. I am about to start using a herbal supplement suggested by my husband's doctor friend. It is called Black Cohosh ( 40mg/tablet twice a day). Dont' worry too much about the symptoms you may not have. Get yourself physically and mentally ready for the surgery. Good luck! I will pray for you.

hi L. i know what u are going through i also have stage 5 endo and am unable to have biological children because of it. I just want to let you know in case you have already been let aware. hysterectomy is not a cure for endo. there is NO CURE. there are treatments which may or may not work. I have two support groups with women that have had hysterectomies only to still have the same problems. This is something that may work for you or might not. I hope for the best for you. you are in my prayers

L.,
do you live in a state that has naturopaths? there are lots of herbs you could do and may ways to balance hormones with herbs and supplements. can i ask what state do you live in? you could even look for doctors who do bio-identical hormone replacement. susan summers has written books on this.i think in her books it would even tell you how to find doctors who practice this. sometimes women really respond poorly to artificial hormones like the birth control pill etc... this kind of hormone adjusting could be helpful. don't know if it would be the answer but may be better than a surgery.
