Hylands Teething Tablets

Ladies,
I gave my 13 month old son 2 of the hylands teething tablets last night before bed for the very first time. He went (and always) goes to bed perfectly. However, last night he was very restless and around 11:00 woke up and was awake for over an hour. I gave him some milk, changed his diaper, checked his temp (98.4), rocked him and put him back down. He slept ok and woke up around 5:45am. Has anyone experienced or witnessed any strange side effects from the tablets? I don't think I will be giving him anymore since I don't want to have to wake up with him in the middle of the night. Please share your experiences with these tablets as I am wondering if this was something due to the tablets or perhaps just a fluke thing and it happened on the same night he got them.

What can I do next?

I used them with all three of my kids and I LOVED them. My thought to you is that he was awake due to the teething not the pills. Maybe they didn't work for him. Try something else and see if it works better or try nothing at all and see if the pills worked better than nothing. "this too will pass" hang in there.

I used them with my son, and I didn't find them to be very effective. I stuck with Tylenol for teething pain & topical gels (like Orajel) on rare occasions.

Seems like maybe he's just having some teething pain coming back. Chase was a great sleeper until teeth were ready to pop in - then he was very restless, waking a lot...

Good luck! It'll pass & then you'll hardly remember it! :)

I tried those tablets and never noticed anything or that didn't think they helped.

Maybe try the tablets in the A.M and see how it reacts then.

I try and never give my duaghter anything in the evening because cough syrup and stuff usually doesn't make her drowsy and winds her up and makes her hyper. But I've seen it do the opposite in other kids so it's just different in everyone.

Don't quote me but if I remember right they contain a little caffiene so that is probably the reason. I would find a different remedy I am sure there are some that don't have caffiene in them.

I only use these teething tabs, because Anbesol doesn't work for my son and he doesn't let me put it in his mouth anymore anyway. My guess is that your son is up because he is teething and in pain. I ALWAYS notice that my son is up more in the middle of the night if he is teething. It will be even worse if the teeth he is getting in are the molars.

I have used the same Hyland's teething tablets with both of my girls when they had trouble with teething. They never really had any side effects, none that I didn't attribute to their teething. If you look closed at the ingredient list there is a coffee plant in there, so maybe that is what got him up, just a thought. Good luck!

I used them frequently for my daughter when she was teething. They worked wonderfully and we never had any weird things happen. Do you think the teething tablets wore off and his teeth were bothering him and that was the trouble?

I have used them and have never had this kind of experience. I really didnt think they worked all that well so we stick with tylenol or motrin. His waking could be resulting from the teething in general. I know my daughter woke frequently when she was getting a new tooth or had diaper rash.
