My husband is turning 30 next month and I would love to do something to surprise him and make the day special. I am having a hard time coming up with any ideas. Money is tight due to unexpected bills, so I have to do things within reason. I am looking for homemade gift ideas, party ideas, and any other ideas! I know my three girls would love to be involved in doing something for their dad. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!!

Someone I know had a 30-themed party where they invited their husbands family and friends and asked them to brint 30 of whatever they bring. Someone gave him 30 rolls of Toilet Paper, 30 balloons, etc. They had a lot of fun with that and you could ask people to bring food items to feed everyone.
good luck! :D

My hubby is turning 40 in two months and we don't really know enough people to even think about a party. So, instead, I am writing emails to ask his friends to send him a card so he gets a TON of them. I got the idea from a friend. Another idea I am borrowing is to make a sign to get people to honk for his birthday. "Honk! It's So-And-So's Birthday." A friend put one up on their corner lot for the husband's birthday and people honked all day. I am debating the wisdom of secretly putting such a sign on my hubby's truck. :)I have also seen homemade posters recently that are put in an intersection where the person passes - people have put pictures and birthday wishes on it for all to see. Good luck, and have fun!

for about $20 (including shipping) you can make a photo colage coffee mug on the Kodak Gallery web site. You can put up to 8 photo's on them. I am getting one for my DH for Christmas.

My brother just recently had his thirtieth birthday and his wife threw him a party that really turned out nice. She invited close friends and family. While we were eating she had previously asked several of her husbands siblings and friends to share some memories about him. Each person got up and shared their stories. Some sang little songs they had made up and others told about the crazy things they did as kids. Overall it was really fun. Also she gathered up some pictures of her husband spanning the 30 years of his life and made a huge poster with the pictures in a collage. She set it up where everyone could enjoy it. You could play his favorite music and make(or get take-out)of his favorite food. Oh yeah this party was also a surprise and when he came home from work that day we were all there to shout "surprise!" Anyway, I hope that gives you a few ideas. I hope all goes well.

For my husband's 30th birthday I bought a scrapbook an sent pages to relatives and special friends, even childhood friends. I encouraged them to fill out the page with special pictures and notes about special memories that they shared. My husband absolutely loved it and often looks at it, even fifteen years later.

Sometimes the simple plans are best. Maybe have the girls put on a show for their dad - even a song. You can make a cake and maybe a snapfish scrapbook for him with photos of his life - or the last year? Then after the girls are in bed, make sure to spend some time with him. Maybe some romantic time. Massage oil and a nice drink or bath? Good luck!

How about doing a potluck with some friends & have the girls make a dish (dessert?) too. For my husband's birthday this year, I had a friend who is a chef come over a make us a 5 course meal for some friends. It was so nice to eat at home when I didn't have to make it, but it was a little expensive. The best times are just having family and friends around--like the other person said, maybe the girls could put on a show in front of everyone & sing to dad or something. Make sure to go out for a date, even if it's just ice cream, the two of you. I'm sure you could get a volunteer babysitter as a birthday gift to him!

My sister did a theme party. 70's for her husband, and then he did the poodle skirt thing for her 30th. If you are crafty you can probably come up with it for pretty cheap.
My husband loved the picture coffee mug he got from me and my son for our son's first Christmas!!
