My husband's birthday is on Jan 5th. I was wanting some cute crafty gift ideas I can help my daughter with. She is about 2 1/2. My husband is an electrician so many typical desk/office ideas won't work. I would appreciate any ideas you moms out there have. Thank you.
My son in law is an electrician and my daughter bought a plain bowl which the kids decorated with paint and slickers. He uses it to empty his pockets at the end of the day.
I can tell you a gift that my daughter made (when she was 2) for her daddy and he still treasures it to this day. I had her (scribble) color on a blank white piece of paper. Then I stamped her hand on a piece of paper and cut out the stamped image. I also stamped daddy's hand on a piece of paper and cut it out. Then I went to Michael's and got a wooden picture frame that we could paint and a picture mat. I painted the frame white so that when my daughter finished her touches the entire thing would be covered. I bought paint in the colors of red, blue, yellow and gave my daughter one of the sponge paint brushes. I knew that she would smear the paint colors, so I was careful to provide her colors that would work well together when combined. She painted the frame and any area's not covered by her painting were white so the frame still looked complete. Then I placed the stamped hand prints on top of her drawing (with glue dots) with daughter's hand print on top to show how small compared to daddy's hand. Then I got letter stickers and spelled out daddy and _________ (daughters name), along with the year on the picture mat. You could always do Happy Birthday or Love You, etc. My husband was very touched by this and proudly displays it on the wall in his home office. Now that our daughter is 7 years old, it has even more memories for him. Even if you choose not to do this perhaps it gave you an idea.

Anything with their hand prints are cute. The have childrens clay that you can do hand prints out of then paint when dry. J.
A recording of your daughter saying "I love you daddy" on a small device that he can keep in his work truck and listen to...especially on the rough days!
What about taking simple pctures and uploading them at maybe Costco and CVS and make a calendar with you and your daughter.. so he can take it to work??
or make a home made T-shirt or hat that they sell at Michaels??
Something that he might use at work or at home Im sure he will enjoy!

How about a duct tape wallet. I've seen them before and they're kinda cool. I'm sure you can google "how to make a duct tape wallet" and find all the instructions online. You could probably also use some electrical tape to make it more personal;)
My 2.5 yr old son loves to identify his letters of the alphabet. We have made a few robots and then spelled out words/names using nuts, bolts, screws,and little pieces of electrical wire (scrap). There are some electrical pieces that look like robot hands - that's where this all started. I have the word "it" hanging on the wall right now made out of a washer, nail, screw, and another screw.
We lay it down and then use white elmers glue to glue it onto cardboard (the inside of a pizza box, cereal box, soda 12 pack box....) I think it's adorable. Your d could spell "I love Dada" and make a flower and he could keep it on his dashboard or on his visor or in his toolbag. Use lots of glue and small pieces of wire (big pieces will not stay flat on the cardboard). Give it at least two days to dry completely.
you could always buy a plain colored tie and let her put hand prints all over it. or something similar that he could hand around his rearview mirror since he is an electrician?
Michaels sells a cement thing w/ a mold. You mix the cement, pour it in the mold. do hand or foot prints. I also shoved some marbles in there. great grandparent gift too.

My husband has a waterbottle and a coffee cup that is decorated by his girls with tinkerbell stickers and paint pens. He loves them and uses them proudly. He is an electrician in the Navy.
We once made a workout towel for him and a pillowcase for him with pictures of him and his family. It was really easy. Michaels sells decal sheets and you print the picture on a home computer printer and iron them on. You could also make a t-shirt with a cute caption.
If he is a reader, you could make him a bookmark. My favorite is to use clear contact paper, put sparkles or glitter and a family picture in it and fold the other side of the contact paper over it to seal it. Punch a hole in the top with a hole punch, tie on some ribbons and it is super cute.
