Hi fellow moms! My baby girl is due any day, in fact I'm scheduled to be induced on Monday 7/20, which happens to be my husband's birthday! I'm wanting to get him a little something, (even though he already knows that he will be getting the greatest gift of all!)..I was just wondering of something special to get for him on the big "D"day and for his bday... Any suggestions??..
Thanks!!

Got this book for my husband for father's day last year and put my kid's footprints on the front cover. It's simple but precious.

You are my I love you by Maryann K. Cusimano Love.

Congratulations, R.. My youngest granddaughter was born on her dad's birthday .... it was/is SO neat.

Don't know about gifts - since you're giving him the greatest gift of all, but I wrote a poem you could give him if you want:

The Greatest Gift
July 20, 2009

For all the times of happiness
That you have given thru the years,
I cannot find the perfect gift
And that, dear one, leaves me in tears.

You’ve given tenderness & love;
You’ve been my husband & best friend.
You’ve been my faithful lover, too.
Our love, I know, will never end.

Because I’m at a loss for words
On this - your very special day -
With joy unspeakable, I give
Your baby daughter that we made.

And every time you look at her,
I trust – inside – my love you’ll see.
May she remind us ev’ry day
We have the perfect family.

Our life began with just we two.
And now our children make us four.
Know this, dear one & love of my life:
I couldn’t love you any more.

I was born on my dad's birthday, but I don't think he got anything that year... he always says I was the best birthday gift he ever got. Hard to top a baby girl for your birthday! Maybe a journal he could write in or something he could eventually share with her when she gets older, or a special frame to put the first picture of them together in.

I was born by c-section on my father's birthday too. I'm now 31 and sharing a birthday with my dad has always been a special thing for us. :) How exciting for you all.

Maybe a suggestion would be a dad t-shirt- collectionsect.com carries a gray one that shows a dad's shoes and a child's shoes and says something like "Fatherhood- the toughest job you'll ever love..." maybe not word perfect quote but the sentiment is there. Might be just right! Besides, what man doesn't need another t-shirt (since most of the others get stained, streatched, and worn and yet they STILL hang on to them?) LOL

Congrats and may God pour his blessings upon your family now and in the future too.

I really don't have any suggestions, but I just wanted to thank you for posting this. I'm having the same problem...but in November and the week of Thanksgiving no less. So, whatever you do, I wish you luck. My husband keeps telling me there is no greater gift than the one God has blessed us with. My you and your family be blessed too.

i'd take a great pic of him with the new baby and put it in a picture frame next to a pic of an ultrasound. granted it would be a few days late, but you could give him the frame with the ultrasound in one side and tell him what will go in the other side later.

Be sure to get your baby's feet printed on a scrub or t-shirt for him...we did that with my first son and I forgot with my daughter and regret it...really neat keepsake for the daddy :-)

The other ideas were great - Go and have him a special t-shirt made he can wear for all the picture taking that day of the baby's arrival. Congragulaitons..

I like the ideas of pics of him and the baby. But just remeber this, you will have just had a baby and will be in the hospital etc. So, unless you have family in town who will take care of all of that for you, you might consider doing something you can take care of ahead of time. My son was due on 8-20 and arrived on 8-15, my husbands birthday. He was never a big birthday person and likes that he has one more thing to share with his son, but will never have his own day and thinks that it isnt fair for your child to have to share. But, my son thinks it is great and I am sure that as he gets older, we will try to do something to give them both something special, like 2 special cakes or dinners or something. Really, all anyone can ask for is a safe and healthy delivery for you and the baby, that is the best!

Take pictures and pick a few put in a special frame for him to cherish forever. One time I bought a collage frame and put several pictures of our children in it.

R.,

I got my husband a polo shirt and had it monogramed with 1 set of little hand prints with the words "Proud Daddy of Baby _____" printed around the little hand prints. He LOVED it...it's been 3 years and he still wears it.

Good luck.

My daughter (3 years old) and my husband's bday are 3 days apart. Hmmm... I was trying to induce labor on his bday the year she was born, so my suggestion may be a moot point......

However, she was born 3 days later, by induction, we try to celebrate their individuality. Holding baby was a huge gift the day she was born, and watching her be happy each year is ongoing... We usualy do a party for her and then the proceeding/following weekend an adult party for him. Not really a big "this year" suggestion, but one year my friend gave her husband surprise twins on his bday (they honestly did not know there were 2).
