Ok, so I may be a little behind the times here, but I was wondering what y'all can tell me about Hulu Plus? We just moved into a new home and we're trying to do without cable and see how it goes; we do have WiFi, though. I have to admit, though, that I am missing my shows! I have never used Hulu before, and I wondered if it's worth it? How long do you have to wait to watch episodes? We already stream Netflix through the Wii, and I think I can stream Hulu through it, too. It's either that, or try Chromecast, or do I need both? I'm mostly interested in current tv episodes, like in the Fall when "Castle" and "Agents of Shield" come back on. Also, can I watch episodes from past seasons? Or are shows only available for a certain amount of time? And can you watch live sports with either Hulu Plus or Chromecast?
Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can stream Hulu Plus through the Wii.

As far as availability..... Depends on the show. I can get Grey's Anatomy the next day. Walking Dead is not until the current season ends and then they load the entire season at once.

Don't know about live sports on Hulu, but we have "the Internet Channel" on our Wii menu, so we can watch shows that way as well - as long as the network streams it.

I just got Hulu Plus while on maternity leave and I love it. I've been able to catch up on the current season of my shows that Netflix doesn't have yet.

When they appear on Hulu Plus depends on the network. Some networks put them up the day after they air, some networks wait a week. I like it a lot, even though you have to watch commercials.

One thing I love is that on my blu ray, it will automatically go to the next episode of whatever show I'm watching. I've got a newborn, so I just turn on Doctor Who at night and turn it on low, and it helps keep me awake when I need to feed him. Or during the day I've been re-watching Highlander and it will just go to the next episode no matter what part of the house I'm in when it's on. (I just like the noise, can't stand for it to be quiet.)

I tried the free one-week trial of Hulu Plus and I was not impressed. If you want to avoid cable or satellite, get a Roku. You can plug it in to your TV and watch a lot of basic channels for free. You can also watch Amazon through your Wii. I really like Amazon Prime. A year ends up costing less than Netflix and they have a ton of shows and movies that are free with the membership. They even have older shows for the kids like Reading Rainbow.

P.S. I just looked it up, and I don't see ABC on the Roku but you can watch the most recent episodes on the website. Also on Amazon you can buy a "season pass" of just the shows you like and watch them right away.

We have Hulu Plus. The shows I like usually pop up the day after they air. Some episodes expire, some don't. Some shows have a whole season available at a time, others limit it to 5 at a time with the oldest cycling off. It depends on the licencing agreement.

I love Castle too, so I can tell you about it specifically. With regular free Hulu, you can see the most recent 5 episodes. With Hulu Plus, the entire season 6 is up right now.

Do you have your local channels set up? Depending on what kind of TV you have you just need an antenna and you can watch as they come on. If you have an old school TV then you need a converter box along with the antenna. We had hulu plus for a while but realized we weren't watching it so we cancelled it. I figure if I can catch the show when it airs or on the TV show website for free, why pay, even though it's cheap. I may go back just so I don't have to wait a week to catch up on my ABC shows since they require you to wait a week and a day on ABCwatch; whereas, on Hulu plus you can watch it the next day. For now I'm just a week behind on shows that I normally wouldn't watch when they air.

My understanding of Hulu Plus is that even though you pay for the service, they still break up the shows with commercial breaks that you cannot skip. We were looking into getting Hulu just this past weekend, and the advertisements are a big no for me. If I am paying for the service, I don't want the ads.
